Pros: Friendly owner, warm at night, comfortable beds, small but well supplied kitchen with free tea, coffee and cookies, wood burning fireplace. Cons: Very busy with people from organized tours making kitchen and common room noisy and crowded most of the time, unreliable hot water, indoor cat, no lockers in shared rooms, temporary staff don't always know what is going on in and around the hostel, often unclear who to ask if you have questions

Very friendly staff, great common room with comfortable couches and free tea & coffee. Free WIFI was a big bonus as not many places in Northern Ireland offered it. Room was nice and as we were there off-season we had a room to ourselves. Bathrooms were clean and nice-sized.

The hostel has very homely vibe to it and the staff were very friendly and helpful. All of the amenities are clean well maintained. It has an excellent common area which makes it easy to meet other travellers. I enjoyed my stay at Paddy's Palace and would definitely stay there again.

Really loved my stay. Place was a bit hard to find at night (I think it has more to do with the lack of street signs then the directions provided). Oh, and the door which was supposed to be orange was painted green!

I loved this hostel! The staff was super friendly and helpful. IThere was an amazing common room with a fireplace that was great for sitting around and talking with the other guests- it was a very cozy place with great character. The location was only a few minutes walk from the historic walls and museums and an awesome pub with traditional Irish music every night. Everything was really clean and the beds were comfortable. I will definitely be returning!

I absolutely loved my stay at Paddy's Palace in Derry! Everyone was so nice and helpful and the atmosphere was one of the best I've experienced. They have an incredible lounge area where everyone can chat by the fire and listen to great music! I am already planning my trip back :)

A very warm welcoming place with a lovely living room and fireplace. The owner makes you feel at home and the kitchen is very clean and well equiped. My only negative comment is the staff that needs to be more reactive to when it comes to solving problems. Apart from that i would recommend every traveler to stay there!

Nice hostel! The staff was friendly and helpful. The room and also the kitchen were clean and enough equipated but maybe the room was too small and they didn\'t have enough bathrooms. But is a good option if you don\'t want to break your pocket!

Brilliant hostel in a very secure location of Derry. 5minutes walk from the sights (City walls, Guild hall, Bogside, The Strand) 10minutes walk to the main shopping centre. Staff always make you feel comfortable and welcome - always good craic. I've stayed here twice now and they've just renovated the showers (huzzah!) and in the process of renovating everything else. Don't have luggage lockers but the rooms are lockable and can only be opened by staff or room occupants with a key.

Thanks a million for the positive review and compliment. We have just begun to acquire lockers for the rooms, they are brand new and will really enhance our bedrooms, so when you come back next time we'll have one ready for you! Happy travels! Steve McPhilemy Owner Paddys Palace - Derry

Thanks for the nice comments, I didnt get to meet you personally when you were here in my hostel - I was down in Dublin for a few days, but I'm glad you had a great time with my staff, they are a great welcoming team. Youre welcome to come back and stay anytime. Happy Travels Steve McPhilemy Owner

Very Spartanian conditions in the room (quite cold, the sink without a plug, little space for any movements ), extremely cold in the showers (in the corridors). It might be quite pleasant in summer, but in winter it is really a challange. On the other hand the staff and the atmosphere they created were perfect.

Dear Guest, Thanks for the compliments on our staff and the good atmosphere in our hostel. Sorry you found it a little cold, you should have told us - we have several electric heaters we can give guetss for their rooms for extra heat in winer. That being said - you did stay here during the coldest week of the year in Derry. I'll look into the situation of no plug in the sink in your room. Sorry about that. Again If you had told us we could have replaced it there and then. Looking forward to welcoming you again, youre right - its especially great in summer. Happy Travels Stephen McPhilemy Owner/Manager

I spent almost 2 weeks in the hostel, I found it clean, good value for money and found the staff very friendly and accommodating. There was a very homely feel about the place and the staff make you feel as if you are part of the family. Really enjoyed my stay and as I am a regular visitor to Derry I will use this hostel again.

Really enjoyed my stay at this hostel. It was clean, and located within walking distance of everything. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The common room was cosy and welcoming, and with breakfast included and HOT water, this hostel was great value for money. I would definietly recommend Paddy's Derry to other travellers.
