We enjoyed staying at the Pagration, although it was a little cold, the staff were very attentive and helpful and it was good value for money.

During the summer this might be an alright, cheaper option, just a bit of a walk from the main sites. But they should not claim "central heat" in the winter because it is barely on (just 2 hours in the evening and not very high at all). I think it was colder in the room than outside during the day. I was under multiple blankets, wearing multiple layers and a stocking hat, still freezing. This is like camping outside. If you can handle that, go for it. Not for me, I was miserable, I left early.

This is was a nice place to stay with helpful, friendly staff. As we were there in the winter, it was EXTREMELY cold in our rooms and even with extra blankets sleeping was uncomfortable. I would recommend staying in this hostel during the Spring or Summer because of the heat. We loved the location as it was within walking distance of all of the major tourist sites, but far enough removed from the tourist areas that we felt like we gained insight into every day life for the Greek people.

Special thanks to Henry who made my stay both times the absolute best! The hostel was accommodating and very nice to have returned after the first portion of the trip. I will stay here in the future and reccommend it to anyone traveling to Athens!

Pagration is one of the better hostels Ive stayed at, period. Ive never felt compelled to leave a review before but a place like this deserves notice. Fun people run the place, interesting people come through so you always meet someone new. Kitchen is great, common room has a tv so thats nice, and also, free wi fi is an excellent bonus. If I could find anything at all to complain about it would be the 50 cents for a shower, but as the place is so inexpensive to begin with you hardly notice.

The assistants were great! It wasn't to crowded, so that was a plus for us. The rooms were cleaned and you can use their kitchen, though I felt it was cheaper to buy gyros than cooking food.

American Staff running the place are really cool, free wifi, ok but clean and useful kitchen. It's 15 minute walking distance from the main sites, but it is much more important that it is in a good neighborhood. I stayed in another hostel my first night in Athens, it was more centrally located, but I was nervous walking around the area in the day and would never leave after dark, not the case in the pagration hostel. Everyone there my three nights got along very well and made some amazing friends.

I emailed the hostel before my trip asking what payment methods they would accept but received no response from them. Upon my arrival, they said they would take cash only. The cost of public transportaion to the hostel listed on their web site is not current. The refrigerator is very small and was taken up by a couple of travelers who seemingly have been there for a while.

Nice place with opportunity to meet new people. It could have lockers and private bathrooms for the boys and girls. You could offer breakfast and some rooms with air conditioner and hot shower, with increase of the price

The Pagrat as some lovingly call it, is one of those special places that feels alive with a unique character all its very own. It is a huge credit to its owner Yiannis and his lovely wife Marina, who for several decades have continually kept injecting it with care, attention and improvements. All this in combination with always hiring the warmest and most helpful staff, make you feel welcome and well accomodated as honoured guests. I'm grateful for having discovered it and all the good times!

Quiet hostel. Maybe TOO quiet, with signals everywhere rembering people to be QUIET! Anyway Staff was helpful and the location is not bad for the price. It's like 20 minutes walking from the centre. The only really bad thing is that you have to pay for hot water, for the rest is not bad

Would have been nice to have more than just one sheet (like only a sheet to cover the mattress with). Found that very odd. Have stayed at four hostels around Europe this week and all the other hostels have provided a sheet covering the mattress, as well as a blanket (plus the beds were made for us). The staff was really inappropriate when I was there. I was sitting downstairs reading and they were running all around me throwing water at each other.
