I haven't stayed in a hostel in over 10 years so didn't know what to expect. Steve Deb and the paint shop guys are so welcoming that you are instantly at home. The bar and living facilities are amazing and the pairing with surf school is second to none. It's also absolutely fantastic value for money.

The Paintshop hostel is exactly how a hostel should be, not just a cheap bed for the night, but a place to meet like minded travellers, swap ideas/stories, chill-out and have fun. The owners and staff are all super friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good too, way beyond what would normally be dished up in a hostel, especially in this part of the world. In short, we had a great time at Paintshop, we met new friends and had a perfect place to recover in between parties.

Owners are what really make this hostel so great. Warm and friendly they go out of there way to make sure you have a great stay. We chilled one night watching a movie and Steve made us some popcorn which was a nice surprise. BBQ night can only be described as a meat feast

Super friendly and welcoming staff.. An oasis within a low key town. Great atmosphere, fab breakfast (eggs cereal fresh bread), fun surf lessons all organised by the hostel.

Love this place! This hostel is the epitome of "No is not in our vocabulary." Want your laundry done? A massage? a barbque dinner? A towel? Bike repaired? Some fruit during the day? A bottle of water? Computer and or WIFI? Whatever it is Debbie and Steve aim to please. And this place aims HIGH and yet, it has a chill ambiance that delights. It's a great place with a diverse crowd, but the smiling faces of Debbie and Steve say it all. Eclectic, yet sensible.
