The Paintshop hostel is exactly how a hostel should be, not just a cheap bed for the night, but a place to meet like minded travellers, swap ideas/stories, chill-out and have fun. The owners and staff are all super friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good too, way beyond what would normally be dished up in a hostel, especially in this part of the world. In short, we had a great time at Paintshop, we met new friends and had a perfect place to recover in between parties.

Owners are what really make this hostel so great. Warm and friendly they go out of there way to make sure you have a great stay. We chilled one night watching a movie and Steve made us some popcorn which was a nice surprise. BBQ night can only be described as a meat feast

Super friendly and welcoming staff.. An oasis within a low key town. Great atmosphere, fab breakfast (eggs cereal fresh bread), fun surf lessons all organised by the hostel.

Love this place! This hostel is the epitome of "No is not in our vocabulary." Want your laundry done? A massage? a barbque dinner? A towel? Bike repaired? Some fruit during the day? A bottle of water? Computer and or WIFI? Whatever it is Debbie and Steve aim to please. And this place aims HIGH and yet, it has a chill ambiance that delights. It's a great place with a diverse crowd, but the smiling faces of Debbie and Steve say it all. Eclectic, yet sensible.

The Paintshop Hostel was absolutely perfect. The owners Debbie and Steve along with the the other staff members were an absolute delight. Amazing atmosphere, nothing but good vibes. I would come here over and over again!! If you are visiting Figeira da Foz this is the place to stay. Clean rooms, clean kitchen, very social atmosphere. The breakfast has more to it than a slice of bread and jam which was a luxury you dont get at most hostels. Highly recommended! Keep being amazing Paintshop!!!

I've been to quite a few hostels and this one really stands out. Debbie and Steve, who run it are friendly and helpful, and the hostel is clean, offers greet facilities and has a great atmosphere. I would highly recommend it to anyone's, whether you're just passing through, or if you want to stay for the surfing.

We had a great stay at the PaintShop..As others have mentioned Debbie and Steve, the owners, totally make this place! They are super friendly and make everyone really welcome.. It was great to have chats with them about travel and life! Debbie was also a star at helping with booking transport for our next stop. We were lucky to be there for the Monday night pizzas which were also great! Would not hesitate to recommend this place! Cheers guys

This hostel has the most friendliest staff ever!! They really create a relaxed atmosphere and make you feel at home. I was on my way to Lisbon so unfortunately could only stay there for one night. Will definitely staying there again one day!

Perfect hostel to meet cool people and learning to surf. Check in for one night and you're likely to stay longer.

Debbie, Steve, Claire, Soren, Charlie and star are really great hosts; funny, friendly and helpful. The house is nicely decorated and kept immaculately clean. The pizza night on Monday evenings is a great way to meet new people.

The owners Steve and Debbie made the stay. Most people in the hostel were returning year after year which says it all

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at, Paintshop had everything: friendly, helpful staff, clean, spacious dorms and bathrooms, a cozy outdoor lounge area, wood-burning pizza oven, cheap beer, fun and interesting guests. Highly recommended.

Paintshop is probably the best place to stay in Figueira da Foz. Whether you are Surfer or not, the hotel is great fun. Debby and Steve who run the hostel are cool people and made a lot time for me to show around. Cozy, homely, clean, spacey, perfect.
