This is one of the best and most positively surprising hostels i ever have been to. Its on the top of a hill in the shadow of a Habsburg style old palace, that's where the name is from. The palace, just like the hostel is built on the hill to have the best panorama of Vienna. Very unusually good location for a youth hostel. The hostel inside is basic and average, But for the very low price we get a clean and modern bathroom. Breakfast was again surprisingly good: Mercure/Accor hotel quality!

Everything that one can ask from this kind of accommodation was really great, except the name put on the internet: Palace is an English translation of the name of the hostel, which is originally Schloss. That could be a problem if you try to find it on Vienna maps, or to ask someone in the street 'Where is Palace hostel?' And it's situated on a hill with winding streets and roads leading to the hostel. However, I find it a minor drawback considering the rest of its qualities.

The internet wasn't working the whole weekend when I was there. Breakfast is nice, a lot of choice in comparison to other hostels I've been to. Great view. The bus in front of the entrance drives directly to u-bahn so the transport is good, it just takes around 30 minutes to get to city center.

I booked this hostel at the last minute, not realizing how far out of town it is. There is a bus stop very close to the hostel, but it would take nearly an hour to get to it from the Ring. It was clean enough, but there was very little to do in the area, with the exception of the Ottakring Brewery. Staff was rather short with myself and other I talked to when they had questions.

Heating system was not adequate and it was not attended even after bringing it to the notice of the staff at the counter or no alternative arrangement was made. Bathrooms / Toilets are too small.

This questions are a little bit stupid. WHY have I to answer questions like "Character" - what "character" should a cheap hostel have? And WHY have I to answer the question about FUN? I only slept in this hostel and I didn't expect any fun nor could be a part of it, if there was some. Please, allow us NOT to answer on questions which are not possible to answer right, correct. have a nice time Branko

Located in a place with the best Wien view, however it is very remote to the old center of Wien and therefore, if you go up there, you won't be able to make a quick club trip to the city. But it was very nice for the big groups and families who wants to hang around in the nature.

More food variety, but perhaps that is too expensive. A variety of cheeses and fruit would be nice.

Stay here if you want to relax and take it easy. The view from the hostel makes your stay worth it. It's kind of time consuming to get into central Vienna though.

It was nice to stay out of the city for a change and the hostel had a great view overlooking the city. It rained so we couldnt do much at the location, but it was only half an hour to the city.

I came here with 5 people, and we loved our stay! The view is amazing as all the reviews stated. Very similar to a dorm room in college but it was perfect for us for one night. I wouldn't recommend if looking to party and spend the night on the town but for a small/busy trip to Vienna it was perfect.

We had a very pleasant stay at your hostel (Vienna). Our room was very comfortable, the bathroom was quite good. And we loved your garden. Just two negative things to mention: 1) Our bathroom hadn't been cleant when we arrived (toilet was dirty). 2) The body of a black beetle that had been in the girls' washroom on Monday was still lying there on thursday and was accompanied by a second black beetle. Maybe the washrooms could be cleant more often?

There is no information about not providing towels on the website. A lot of hostels with the same price level towels provide.
