The hostel is nicely located at the top of a hill. I had car so it was easy to access there and to go to the centre. The room were not very clean and the sheets and covers were pretty old. They don´t offer towels or soap or shampoo.

The location is nice and quiet, not suitable for those who wish to walk downtown. By bus it is ok. The hostel is very basic but offering everything you need for a short stay. We appreciated mainly the ensuite bathroom. The corridors are a bit noisy (slamming doors), so we were woken up quite early each morning. It is a good value for money.

Very quiet and peaceful. Nice breakfast, much better than any free breakfast buffet in American hotels. Nice bathroom & shower facilities. Don't forget to rent a towel, though. Apparently the small fee pays for the laundry service. Nice friendly staff.

I loved the location even if it was a bit out of the way. The rooms were great for the price but I really wish they provided towels!

I booked this place for my last night in Vienna. I t was literally the only place I could find that would allow one night only. I had hoped it would be sufficient. Instead it was wonderful. Incredibly clean, amazing views, friendly staff, free breakfast. I know this won\'t normally happen, but I booked a bed in a dorm and no one else showed so I had a wonderful room, with a desk and strong internet all to myself for about 25 Euros. I would go back there in a heartbeat. Worth the 20 minute commute

We stayed 6 nigths in the hostel. Unfortunately breakfast was very poor: no cheese, only some kind of soft drink instead of fruit juice, only one kind of sausage. But the first 4 mornings they didn't even offer all the essentials of a breakfast: either no coffee or no milk, no bread rolls and no butter, no sausage and no plates and glasses. The complaint after the first morning didn't improve situation. At least from the 5th morning on, the poor breakfast was complete.

The grounds the hostel is on are amazing, though probably would have been better if the weather was nice. Great price, good breakfast, no complaints.

I really enjoyed the quiet surroundings, the view of Vienna is spectacular! The rooms were clean and new, the breakfast had an excellent choice of yoghurt and sandwiches. There were two buses running from Ottakring subway station until midnight. One night there was a loud party going on but the staff was very helpful and kindly changed my room the next day.

Unfortunately the light in the inside-shower-room did not work and had not been fixed despite my request.

This is one of the best and most positively surprising hostels i ever have been to. Its on the top of a hill in the shadow of a Habsburg style old palace, that's where the name is from. The palace, just like the hostel is built on the hill to have the best panorama of Vienna. Very unusually good location for a youth hostel. The hostel inside is basic and average, But for the very low price we get a clean and modern bathroom. Breakfast was again surprisingly good: Mercure/Accor hotel quality!

Everything that one can ask from this kind of accommodation was really great, except the name put on the internet: Palace is an English translation of the name of the hostel, which is originally Schloss. That could be a problem if you try to find it on Vienna maps, or to ask someone in the street 'Where is Palace hostel?' And it's situated on a hill with winding streets and roads leading to the hostel. However, I find it a minor drawback considering the rest of its qualities.

The internet wasn't working the whole weekend when I was there. Breakfast is nice, a lot of choice in comparison to other hostels I've been to. Great view. The bus in front of the entrance drives directly to u-bahn so the transport is good, it just takes around 30 minutes to get to city center.
