After living in London for four months, I spent a day here before leaving for home. This is, by far, the most beautiful hostel I have ever stayed at. The privacy curtains on each bed is an excellent touch and the whole building has a comfortable feel. When you get free breakfast and the chance to stay in one of the nicest areas in London, what is there to lose? You also are right next to two tube stations that connect to the Jubilee an Metropolitan lines, so getting into the city is simple.

I stayed in the basement and the showers are not so good. the doors wont close and lock properly and the bathroom floor is always wet. There should be at least an area where the water wouldnt go. Padlocks should be for free to be returned afterwards. The food there is expensive also not of hostel prices and very basic choices.. but you can always go out and find somewhere else to eat.

The breakfast was poor,The bathrooms and showers weren't great either. The location was great but that's the only thing that made it good for me

There were several things that definitely could be improved on. In the female dormitory of the basement, windows are not allowed to be opened for safety reasons. I stayed here 4 nights and the room became so stuffy and hard to breathe because there was no air circulation AT ALL. There's a sign on the bathroom next to the dormitory that states bathrooms should be cleaned 5x a day. That did not happen. The water juices and coffee are not always available as I believe it was mentioned it would be?

I really wanted to love this place. It was beautiful inside and out, the staff was incredibly helpful (Thanks for changing my bed, Nico!) The only thing was kids (8-15 years old) were running all over the place, up and down the stairs, apparently unattended. I was going to bed early as I had a very early flight after Heathrow and all I could hear were the kids running up and down the stairs. The hostel might just be a bit too big for my enjoyment.

Love the location, nice and close to the tube and a movie theater, as well as shops and resturants along the way. Key card access to the hallways and dorms and great drawers to lock your stuff in. Would definitely recommend to other backpackers.

Location is good, right by the Jubilee line and within a longish-walking distance from Camden Center. The hostel itself is gorgeous on the outside, and not too bad to look at on the inside. The prices ramp up pretty steeply the more crowded the hostel gets - when we initially booked our rooms we got a pretty great deal, but when an emergency happened and we had to add an extra few nights the rates were much higher, so it's better to book ahead of time. Very private curtained beds. Clean. Lovely!

Hello, I am glad to be asked for my comments indeed. Here's my story : after having spent 3 days in Surrey with friends, I had planned to be in London for a long-anticipated day as a tourist in my favourite city in the word. I checked into the hostel on Sunday night. The staff at the reception was not very welcoming – the young man there seemed to find it difficult to give even monosyllabic replies to my few questions. OK, I am a bit older than the usual crowd… in my forties but used to backpack

Awesome staff!! That first thing. Loses points cause our room was tiny and you could easily bump your head on the overhanging wood pylons. Also,no kitchen? Every hostel should have a kitchen, full stop. But all in all a good experience. Free parking a major bonus.

Staff are friendly and the hostel got a special character. the common room is excellent. got a good bed luckily so managed a good nite sleep. privacy curtain and reading light is great, but a socket at each bed position would be even more perfect!

I arrived late at night and the staff were not friendly or helpful - the daytime staff were better. The plug sockets in the beds on my side of the room didn't work. I didn't like the use of multiple extension cables which seemed to litter the room. The beds above the bottom bunk were difficult to climb into and out of as there is a really narrow opening from the bed onto the steps. The room stank of sweaty feet. I was in the 6 girl dorm, imagine the 14 bed one!

Possibly the best hostel in London!

The power plugs in my room weren't working, I asked the staff to have a look because I really needed my mobile to wake up in the next day, he was really unpleasant and unhelpful, said that the only thing he could do was charge my mobile in the reception, so I had to stay awake in the reception waiting for my mobile to charge. A total desrespect.

We really enjoyed our stay at Palmer's Lodge. It was our first hostel on our trip and looking back we realize we were quite spoiled! It was clean, charming, good facilities and excellent staff who were always willing to answer our numerous questions. The breakfast was good - especially the coffee machine - but some fruit would make it excellent. Great location, really short walk to the tube. No kitchen but a refrigerator. I definitely recommend staying there!
