The 12 bed all female room with an ensuite was great. Each bed had curtains for privacy which helped since there were so many people in the room and many who were coming in and out. The bathrooms in the ensuite were clean but the sinks were very small. The front desk staff were somewhat friendly but it would have been nice for them to ask if travellers needed any help with directions, information or what not. The common room was spacious for people just wanting to hang out.

The only downside of my stay, was that on Saturday night a bunch of partiers from out of town descended on our dorn in a very noisy and aggressive manner. Not the fault of the hostel, but a drag nevertheless.

Very nice staff, lovely place, beautiful place, excellent location, but dreadful night because of my roommates who were drunk, came several times to the dorm, switching on the light, eating, drinking, smoking, shouting, burping loadly...a nightmare. In between I succeeded in sleeping twice 2 hours. Exhausted at the end. You never know where tohse kind of guys will stop. Stressful. Backpachers we are, sure, but what can we do when haviong to share a dorm with disrecpectful guys like this?

Palmer's is a great hostel. Clean and with loads of character. Do be warned that the bedrooms are small though, which means things are easily crowded with luggage, etc.

That's my second booking here. Pretty happy with it again. Even the biggest dorm room is super comfortable - beds are big, there are individual power sockets, curtains and lights for everyone. Common room is nice, bar is nice. If they fix the showers it will be perfect. The showers are the worst I've seen in London - low water pressure or cold or both. You can generally try a few different showers and find one the works kind of OK, but it's so annoying.

Good option for those looking for a reasonable, clean and social hostel. Beautiful mansion house just adds to the atmosphere. The only thing to keep in mind is that this is a large hostel, and during my stay there were many high school groups staying there so at times it felt a little like a school dorm.

Palmers Lodge was in the perfect location for us, just minutes away from Central school of speech and drama; and it was easily accessible to central London on the Jubilee line. It was clean, comfortable, safe & affordable - and I would be very happy if my daughter & her friends came to stay here again.

Fantastic. One of my best hostel experience, even when I am making considerably more money in the future I think it will be hard to beat this for accommodation in London.

Nice hostel to stay in. Friendly staff, nice area, good access to Underground, clean facilities, quiet dorms.I didn't even feel like I was staying in a 14-bed dorm which was almost full! I would have liked more choices for breakfast (fruit!). I was also a bit annoyed by the masses of (mainly French) high school students (not the hostel's fault I know :)). I felt like it was a bit too big to get in touch with other travelers easily.

This place is no longer a hostle. They have become a boarding house for bus-loads of European school-age children. Stayed for four nights, booking 3 months ahead, and had to change rooms daily so they could accomodate the group bookings. These groups also dominate the kitchens am and pm (as the leaders attempt to feed 50+ students en masse), the bathrooms (there are only 2 sinks per floor ( to share with 15+ teenage girls), and the common room.

Hello. Our hostel receives groups every now and then, like most hostels. We like to keep the diversity of guest that provides us a special atmosphere. We are sorry if you had to change rooms on your last night: that's something not common and we only ask that when no other option is possible. Hope next time the hostel crowd makes your experience better. See you then!

The place has incredible character and the common room is especially relaxed and sociable. On the day I went there was a power cut but it wasn't a problem as everyone made the best of it. The room was quite basic for the cost - which is one of the more expensive in London - and the window outside my dorm had some rattling fixtures which made for a noisy sleep. The breakfast too is about as basic as you'll see. Some bread or about three pots of cereal. Most hostels offer cheese, ham and fruit

I thought that the breakfast could have been a bit more comprehensive and I thought that there could have been a bit more of it. I thought that the shower configuration was a bit odd.

The sink in the toilet can be bigger so that the toilet won't be that wet after using. Except that everything was fine.

Excellent as always! This is my third time staying there, no problems as per usual. First time in the 12 bed female door with ensuite, which I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had two bathrooms and three showers! Definitely helpful in the morning when everyone is trying to get ready at the same time. Luggage storage is free, but since my last visit they have also added new security lockers for a nominal fee, which i used to store my valuables after I checked out.

Lovely building, very close to centre! A few simple things could be done to greatly improve the stay: mend showers immediately! 5 showers (approx) for the whole hotel is too little!!! Not hygienic. Get some kind of device that guests can use for wiping off the shower floor after use. Drawers under bunk beds need to be separated. Had to wake a complete stranger up early in the morning as she had blocked my access to the drawer with her padlock.

Lovely stay at this place. The staff was helpful, they had a 24 hour lounge where you could use the computers, bathrooms were clean and frequently available. The breakfast wasn't exactly continental and they should extend breakfast hours until 11am but that's my only qualm. Swiss cottage is close to everything too so loved it.
