In Kyoto, Japan, an old traditional Japanese house (Machiya) has finished its role as a pawnshop for more than 100 years and been ,renovated to a guest house Pan and Circus in October 2011.
Your base of Kyoto stay must be here.Kyoto station(15 min), Kawaramachi station(10 min), Kamo river(just 1 block),Kiyomizudera temple(15min),are all within walking distance.It is not only a guest house, but also a bar, an event space, a place to cool off, and a place where the discerning and creative people in Kyoto will be converging on any given night.It's a lot of fun to spend time in the guest house and the bar on the ground floor.
There are the French aristocratic chairs that make you feel raised to the peerage. in addition, you can also enjoy seeing the modern artworks made by the young creators popular in NYC.

From my point of veiw, the place grows on you. The place is an "Original" Japanese shop, the building is as it was 50 years ago including down two stairs and out the back for a shower but it has lashings of hot water. The staff are great in the true sense, typically Japanese, more helpful than anyone. The male dorm is robust and the female dorm is more sedate. At street level is a "Club Lounge" bar. About 1.5 kms from the station but I wish they had better directions on their site.

This property has a 1 day cancellation policy.Failure to cancel within this time will result in a cancellation charge equal to the first night of your stay.
Things to Note
We don't accept credit cards, so please pay in cash. No smoking in the room. Basically we turn off the light of bedroom at 12 am. Guests have to be quiet there . Cancellation fee. A cancellation fee occurs from one week before check-in. Since it is a guesthouse of an a small number of people system, make a reservation after the schedule of a travel is fixed. One week before - the previous day of staying day: 50% .that day of staying day: 100% Not available under 15 years old.
