We loved Panba!! If you stay here, participate in the nightly meal with the staff - awesome food, really friendly people and only 20RMB. A mile cheaper, tastier and friendlier than anything you'll find in the old town! The staff here were above and beyond amazing, helping us organise our trek to Tiger Leaping Gorge and various buses we needed to catch. The facilities at this hostel are awesome - you can chill out with DVDs, use the computers, play pool and there's great common areas! loved it!

great location (a few minutes walk form the old town) but in a calm area, great staff (english speaking, with full of information to share and talk bout), friendly and quick, they offer dinner with typical local kitchen in a very familiar atmosphere, nice room and beds, nice area with full of small markets and restaurants

This is the perfect place to stay in short walking distance to the old city center (its actually in the outskirts of the old town). The staff is awesome and more than helpful to book tickets, arrange trips etc pp. But do rent your bikes better at a local shop.

Panba was a bit of a walk from the old town centre but it was very quiet at night. The bathroom was spacious and clean and had a great hot water shower (we stayed in the double room off the top balcony).

Panba has great location in the old part of town, but secluded from the crowds. We stayed in a double room for two nights, it was very comfy and clean, there's a cute little garden and a rooftop terrace with rocking chairs and an amazing view. It's reasonably priced and the staff speaks fluent English and are very helpful. They also organize hikes and trips in the area. The only thing I was not impressed with was the staff bitching about foreigners in Chinese presuming they were not understood.

Great rooms I enjoyed this hostel the best in my recent trip. The staff are very helpful and honest with their advise. I guess some times i felt it was a bit of a walk to return to the hostel but you really wouldn't have wanted to have stayed in the thick of Lijiang. The breakfasts were good too. I'm hoping the washing machine is fixed by my return.

Hostel was a little difficult to find, but Nicholas did come to get me. Was only here for a night, It did seem like a nice comfy/quiet hostel with good english speakers. A little out of the way, but overall very good.

Very friendly staff. Especially the maid is so smiling and friendly. If there should be mentioned a drag down, it must be that the kitchen is a little bit slow.

During our stay at Panba, my daughter and I both came down with a nasty respiratory tract infection. The staff at Panba were great, looking after us like we were family. We could not have asked for better.

Charming hostel in a more quiet part of Old Town, with friendly and helpful staff and a great atmosphere. The staff meal was a great way to have a real Chinese dinner. There is a pool table, a great roof terrace with views over the town and a tv room with a big movie collection. The beds in the dorm are rock-hard so we didn't get a great night sleep. the shared bathroom was clean but the toilet door didn't have a lock and in the morning there was no hot water. I would definitely recommend this.

This hostel is just a wonderful and charming place. An ideal location if you´re planning to visit Lijiang and places like tiger leaping gorge. I really enjoyed my time and the staff helped me whatever I needed. Thanks a lot!
