There were police and under cover cops every where in and around the hostel.

Great location right near the Loop, close to all of Chicago's main attractions. I came in for the NATO summit so I wasn't looking to see the sites so I can't really comment on how they set you up with directions/information, but for being so close to Grant Park it is really cheap and is fine in terms of accomedations.

This hostel is a bit far out of the city, would need to catch the train there. A few restaurants and shops around but not much in the area. The hostel itself was good, beds were fairly comfy and a small lounge area. Not much for kitchen facilities though. The bathroom was ok, toilets were tiny and showers only have a curtain. If you can try and stay at the HI Hostel much better location and facilities and super clean!

On the whole I enjoyed my stay at the Parthenon Hostel, Chicago. The stairs were a problem for me with my bad knees but the staff gave me a room one floor up which was very thoughtful of them.

The Hostels have clean rooms and the location is extremely convenient. If you have a room on the 3rd floor...there is no elevetor, because it's an old building..so be ready to walk up! The only problem is to find a parking lot for the car. Many place to eat, good and cheap, all around.

It would be best if in the prices you would write most clear "tax no included" (or "tax will be paied at your arrive")

The hostel itself has some decent rooms, but there\'s no \'hostel feeling\' due to lack of common room. The breakfast is great, but it feels as if you\'re in a hotel lobby. However, what I really found disappointing is, that the hostel manager overcharged me with the 10% pre-payment. Although I was a bit jetlagged at the moment, but my protests were to no avail. The reply of the manager was: \'check it out with hostels.com, if you like\' ?! This is cheating! I now payed 110% of the normal dorm price

Great place right in Greektown, about 10 minutes walking from Amtrak. The staff was very friendly, let us check in early and kept our bags behind the desk after we checked out. The neighborhood is really nice (although 30-40 minute walk from a lot of the bars in the Loop and just north of the river), but there's also a lot nearby (including a 24 hour fast food Greek place with delicious cheese fries). Highly recommended!

Place ok. Close to the center, which is very important. There is breakfast, but there is no much of it :/ Simple toast, one kind of jam.

This was the first hostel I've stayed in in the US, and it has far exceeded my expectations! The atmosphere, location, and staff were great, and the breakfast was wonderful as well. Clean, well lit, and wonderful people. I was expecting less hospitality at a hostel in the US, but I felt taken care of and had a great experience.

The staff was totally awesome. I even was down with the Silver Haired Greek Breakfast Nazi who had that program locked down to a T.

I loved staying at the Chicago Parthenon Hostel! I had never stayed in a hostel before, so I didn't know what to expect. The front desk ladies were very nice, my room was adorable and quiet, and the shared bathroom was extremely clean. I plan on staying there if I get to visit Chicago again.

Decent, clean hostel in a good location (amid Greektown, 10min walking to Willis Tower, and Subway/Bus nearby). Staff could be a little bit more friendly, especially during breakfast. The common areas comprise two rooms with couch/TV, fridge, microwave, and tables - but word is on the street that guests also have access to a fully equipped kitchen in the building next to it ;-)
