As a female traveller this hostel is not the vibe. As soon as I walked in the door the vibe was off. It’s a sleezy vibe full of older people. It genuinely feels like some kind of halfway house. There was an older male asleep in the common room every time I went in there. The door to my room did not lock and one day I came back and the door was wide open for anyone to walk in. The room was hot and had little room for our belongings. The kitchen was full of fruit flies some things were broken.

Stayed at the Parthenon for 4 days in shared bunkroom. The showers, bathrooms, and common areas were *spotless* and aircon is everywhere. The location was perfect to walk around the loop and further afield via CTA--so no need for ride-shares! The hostel runs smoothly due to the tireless & kind efforts of Joel and Frank both of whom frequently saved-the-day for myself. Frank in particular provides 1st class service wrapped in cozy, profession and chill midwest helpfulness. Just a great hostel!!

The gentleman working the front desk the evening of July 15 was super nice, very kind and welcoming. The 8-bed dorm was extremely hot and hard to sleep in. The shower setup is odd, and you have to pay to get a towel. Not the worst place, not the best. Great location.

Hostelworld says

For guests arriving in Chicago via Amtrak or a Greyhound bus, Parthenon Hostel is in an ideal location near both terminals. It's also near Willis Tower and within walking distance of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Loop and Millenium Park. This clean and quiet hostel is surrounded by a number of Greek restaurants and features free Wi-Fi and free maps of the city. We like their popular free breakfast of boiled eggs, toast, bananas, cereal, juice and coffee.
