Surprising that you have to pay for a late check out to saty longer in the property even though you will only stay in the commmon area.

The staff was quite unfriendly, except the nice lady preparing the breakfast - she was cute and super nice

Nice enough hostel, good location. Don't buy the breakfast, it's not worth 2000 pesos. It was really quiet while I was there and a fine place to pass a couple days.

It's in a great location, and the staff are great. Plus the beds are pretty comfy. My main gripe is that the building doesn't flow very well, making there no real comfortable place to just hang out with a beer. Plus, the dishes and utensils in the kitchen are pretty lacking. Good hostel overall though

Thanks to Martina for taking us out with some of her friends. We had fun. I left the next day and couldn't say thanks. Patrick

I booked one night but realized in time I wouldn't make it until the next night, and sent them an email in advance to change the booking. Despite this I ended up having to pay for two nights. They told me they had to turn people away as the room was reserved for me, but still the hostel was far from full. The room was dirty, with a window you couldn't close properly and a pathetic tiny padlock on the door. The bathroom was absolutely filthy and there was no hot water. Service was poor and slow.

I stayed here on a recommendation. Wonderful hostel. Awesome breakfast sandwich - tomato and cheese. Good size lockers. Cold water showers aren't super awesome but I guess they were warmer downstairs. Comfortable beds. Staff was pretty friendly and helpful too.

The only inconvenient: sometimes we did´t have hot water.

Really enjoyed my stay here. Basic facilities, but all fine. Great breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Common area is very conducive to cooking and chatting with fellow travellers - currently equipped with 'Jim's-dad-from-American-pie-a-like' who will keep you entertained! :) no lock on dorm door, and also that we booked a 4 bed dorm but were put in an 8 bed, were my only gripes.

!great location, great staff, great atmosphere and breakfast is excellent! Bad point: no plugs in the 8 persons dorm (don't know about the other dorms). overall, my stay there was great!!! I was supposed to be there for 1 night and ended up staying 4 :)

A cool, laid back hostel with a yummy sandwich for breakfast, semi decent cooking utensils and pots, clean spacious rooms and in a really nice area of Valparaiso. The Internet was a bit touch and go but staff were friendly and it had a cute little courtyard which was good to meet other people.

the place is quite average. it's very well located in Valparaiso, but i couldn't get any sleep as the room is right by the street where everyone is hanging out and smoking and talking loudly. there seem to be no policy around quiet time after a certain hour. only two bathrooms for the whole place.

Patapata is located in the beautiful hills near the ocean and nightlife and was easy to find--we walked from the bus terminal (tour guide at the bus terminal helped with a map/directions/aprox costs). All areas were CLEAN and there was a nice outdoor area. The staff was dismissive of our multiple requests to call a taxi-- bc of his laziness we RAN through the streets and had a stressful morning, making it to our bus (only open seats on Jan1) with just moments to spare-- HORRIBLE SERVICE.
