It all depends on what you are looking for. This is NOT a party place - it is a quiet, chilling out, hanging out with the animals place and perfect for anyone going diving - the dive shop is 30 seconds from the door and you are guaranteed to get a good night's sleep before the 5.15am start for the blue hole! There were not many other guests when I stayed so if you want to meet other travellers there may be better options elsewhere. But if you love dogs and cats and nice sunsets.. could be 4U.

Maddy is a lovely person and does a great thing here. It is nice to know that the money she makes from renting out the rooms goes to a good cause (cat food)! If you like cats, the number of cats is not overwhelming as she only lets out 10 or so at any one time. Our room was basic but clean, no curtains when we arrived but Maddy put some up that evening. the shared bathroom is one outside room with toilet (broken) and cold shower. Toilet bin not emptied the 2 days and nights we were there!

Maddy is the best! And what she is doing for the island animals can only be expressed as admirable. I have never had a more personable proprietor at any other hostel I have resided. I also believe that due to Paws' nature, it draws traveler's of a like mind and disposition, which gives Paws an even greater community feel. The establishment so perfectly embodies the essence of the island, from its relaxing atmosphere to its quiet but central location on the north and west coast of the island.

Very friendly and welcoming. Cats and dogs are fine even if you don't love animals, they're not in your room :). Sit on the boat to watch sunset - fantastic!

THE hostel part is not why you have to book, i Will be hoest. But for THE cat part you have to go. Maddie is lovely, it is agoog home for THE Cats' and i loved THE place for it. Read the texkt well, because you have to have your expectations right, booking this place. If you go...please help Maddie out with repair work. Donation, anything. She can really need every hand she can get. Enjoying THE lovely Cats'!!!!

The owner is lovely and has great vision. She's very welcoming and sorted things we asked for. We stayed in the studio which was great to save money on breakfast etc but didn't want to cook dinner there as no outside space and there's a bit of cat smell when the door is open. Its away from most other hotels/restaurants but the island is tiny. The owner is very focused on the sanctuary with rooms secondary, as income to feed the cats. Fine but needs to focus a little more on the rooms

It was more than the part " you really need to be a lover of pets" in the description. Lots of pet markings...smell. The owner was very nice. It just wasn't what I wanted.

We were pleasantly surprised to see there were only four rooms to rent, and we were alone for the first two nights, having a cosy veranda with seaview and the jetty all to ourselves. Madi was the sweetest host ever, happy to tell us about the island, the people and give us other relevant information that we needed. Anywhere you stay on Caye Caulker you have proximity to the beach and nightlife, but I think no other accomodation can you get such a personal and genuine experience!
