I have marked down on Facilities and Security for not having electrical sockets in the hostel rooms - phone/tablet etc can only be charged in public areas where it's possible for things to get stolen. I stayed in the hotel for a couple of nights and the room was nice, very clean etc. The only downside here was that there was no light by the mirror and the main room light only dimly lit the area by the door where the sink/mirror is.

Not really a Hostel in the traditional sense: no kitchen, no real fridge. This place is more of a cheap hotel - the "hostel" rooms are very basic, fan and lights - no furniture except 2 twin beds, but the shared bathroom is kept clean (no hot water). Do NOT stay in the hostel if you are affected by a loud bar underneath playing live music every few nights. The staff does provide good info and deals on scuba trips, mainland treks, etc.
The room is really depressing and I am not sure it is clean. i smelled a rat and saw evidence of one. The pool is nice. I would recommend that you don't need to book ahead but can go and check out lodgings. Ruby's Hotel was nicer, better location, and their shared rooms were just as cheap as Pedro's as it turns out.
