It is a reasonably good place to stay. They are in the middle of renovations which should really help the atmosphere. Room prices are reasonable. The staff are helpful but do not have a lot of information, at least they only tell you what they want you to know. Their prices for tours are not competitive. Check out the prices at other places before booking with penguin. The shower in our room sprayed everywhere. They tried to repair it but the repair only worked for a day.

Great location and great value. The room and the washroom were clean, but the bedsheets had some stains. The shower worked well. There were times when the water shut off or there was no hot water, but when we told the staff they fixed the problem right away. The AC/heater was also not working in our room, but luckily we had no need for it. The staff helped us book our Mount Sinai trip for less than others were advertising it, and they also rent snorkeling equipment for a fair price.

The staff at Penguin were extremely friendly and helpful. They helped make my few days in Dehab rewarding, assisting in organizing a trip to Mt. Sinai as well as a departure to Cairo. I would recommend this hostel to anyone planning a visit to Dehab. I stayed in the 4-bedroom dorms and was happy with the facilities. Took a nice hot shower. Very reasonably priced, as well.

Great time at Penguin Village...With a small BUT...we booked a tour with them to hike the Sinai. At the exact moment we were supposed to leave to reach the St.Kathrin Monastery and start the hike, they said us that Bedouins close the route to reach it.BUT if we could pay for a private tour with a taxi, there wouldn\'t be any problem...just say \"The tour doesn\'t leave because there are not enough people\"!!Just be honest!!!!

Easy to summarize, the best hostel I stayed at in Egypt, in all respects ! A few minor comments: the quality of the breakfast in the Penguin restaurant could be improved, and I discovered the 100 minutes of free Internet after checking out.

Great value for the money. My only quip was that the bathroom had a bit of a sulfur smell (from the water) and there was no hot water in the shower. Other than that it was great.

Have to say that I loved my stay at Penuins Hotel. I stayed in a 4 bed dorm room and while basic, it was clean and tidy. The staff here are friendly and will go out of their way to help whenever they can. Elswedy, Tito, Andy and Mohamed made me feel very welcome in Dahab. The restaurant serves great food, and I did my AOW with Penguin Divers with Mohamad as my instructor, who I also recommend.

Charming, knowledgeable staff who are always, no matter what time of day or night it is, helpful and friendly is really what makes Penguin a great place to stay in Dahab. Their room floors could be cleaner but their bathrooms are excellent, their blankets warm, their sheets clean, and they organise a great tour to climb Mt. Sinai by night. We'd definitely stay there again.

A good value hostel in a good location. The staff are very friendly and ameniable and were extremely hepful in terms of rearranging our stay due to problems beyond our control, and arranging a late check out time due to being on a trip. the communal areas are good - a really nice restaurant/bar and seating area right by the beach, with good value food, drinks and shisha. what could be better? there was a good atmosphere here and very easy to socialise and meet people.

Penguin is a brilliant hostel - great price, great location, and great staff. Staff helped us book a bus back to Cairo as well as snorkelling tours - fantastic all around. We ended up staying 3 extra nights because we were enjoying Dahab so much. Highly recommended.
