Pros: Absolutely loved the decore and the homely touch the hostel provided. Knowledgable staff. It helped define our stay in Evora. Cons: The actual locating of the hostel was a challenge, it'd be helpful to have a visual map with landmark to better visualize it. Landmarks with images is an absolute navigating must, street name provided little help. It took us 1 hour in the dark. Doorbell for early checkin wanted, we arrived by bus at 4:30 but waited till 7am.

I stayed at the Pensão Policarpo while participating in a conference at the Universidade de Évora, which is just around the corner. The place is a little hard to find but that's true of places in most smaller Portuguese cities, and the taxi drivers know where it is so not a problem - I would suggest clarifying the directions, though. The pensão itself is beautiful; the rooms are clean, comfortable and very good value for money; and the staff are absolutely lovely and very helpful. Recommended.
