Hostel located in an old apartment bilding in heart of Lisbon Baixa, 100 m from the metro station, ran by warm and easy-going lady who seems to be fully devoted to her business as a host, nigt guard and cook in one. It is definitely too expensive for the standard it represents (>25e/night/person), with similar price you can get single rooms elsewhere in Lisbon. The hostel is arranged in a multi-room apartment, which unfortnately haven't seen renovation for years and is not clean enough.
Paula was wonderful and great. Not necessarily a hostel for meeting people and fun activities but a great place to stay nonetheless.

Very well located. Paola (the host) takes great care of her visitors, always nice and smily despite her hard-work. Very clean, colorful and quiet.
Only upon arrival (9 pm) we were told the room was double booked andere we were sent to another pension upstairs for the first night which was not a great place to stay. I made reservations months before arrival so plenty of time to inform us about it and give the opportunity to find st else for the whole period. Room was spacious and clean, breakfast was ok. So pension itself is ok, but felt more like a burden than a guest during our stay.
Our room on the street side was small with lots of noise from the street all night long!! Too much stuff everywhere that can not be cleaned properly. Breakfast ok, but in too small a place. Mold in the bathroom. Friendly host, good location.
Staying at the Pensao Royal feels like visiting friends or family since Paula, the host, is simply incredible and goes more than the extra mile to make one's stay a memorable one. She was always ready to provide us with advice on outstanding places to eat and on how to make the most of a day of sightseeing. The breakfast she serves every morning in her gorgeously decorated kitchen is also outstanding. In a nutshell: If you are going to Lisbon, go see Paula!
Great, comfortable hostel in an excellent area of the city. It is right across a Metro Station, which makes it really easy to get there from the airport. Also, many restaurants and the down-town area are only 2 streets away from the hostel. The owner was very friendly and helpful. I can definitely recommend staying here and would come back!
