All I can say about this hostel is that it´s absolutely awesome! The location is perfect, The staff Miguel is fantastic, he is very friendly! Stayed at this hostel for 14 nights and it was perfect for me.. It´s very safe and always very clean! It´s by far the cleanest hostel I have ever been to! I would definitely recommend this to anyone! Elena, from Russia.

we had a fantastic 3 nights at amalur. miguel is divine! he was incredibly friendly, full of local knowledge and very kind and helpful (especially since i was robbed in barcelona and needed things to be sent to his hostel. he also warmed the welcome with a bottle of champagne to help ease the pain). the hostel is immaculately clean, warm and just a stones throw away from cafe irubi and bar hartiza (we recommend both these places). we will definitely be going back next time we're in san seb!

We have spent a really good WE in San Sebastian. Our host Miguel Migue was so cool, friendly and helpful. His pension is very well located, clean and cheap. I will be back soon.

Great location, Miguel was really helpful, good to practice our Spanish with! Quite a noisy place though, thin walls - earplugs recommended.

I defenitely recommend this place. Miguel is super kind, makes you feel at home and goes out of his way to help you. Location is great, room and bathroom very clean. No breakfast, but it`s easy to get something to eat in one of the cafés nearby. Gracias por la hospitalidad, Don Miguel!

Fantastic little hostel! Pension Amalur was homey feeling with little knick-knacks, rugs, heaps of blankets and a cozy common room. It's not in Old Town (a few blocks off), but just off the main beach, which is a perfect in-between location. The owner was very sweet, wished us happy lives when we departed and wanted us to be comfortable. The only negative with this hostel was that we only had 2 bathroom and showers to use, it wasn't a problem for us, though it might be during the high season.

Well at first i thought to myself why am i walking up a dark set of stairs...this is wierd. But once i got into the hostel i was greeted and shown the hostel 1st hand by the owner, he showed me all the great places to go, gave me a map and we laughed and had a great conversation, even though my spanish isnt the greatest he did his best to explian and show me..i left my $500 watch in the shower...and when i realized i forgot it, it was returned to me...great great great...the best hostel yet

Very clean rooms with lockers even big enough for the suitcases. The location is pretty nice, just 5 minutes from the bars. Would go there again for that price. The owner was keen on giving us directions, though a little bit of spanish is necessary ! :)

Miguel will greet you with a smile and a helpful explanation of where to go and what to do in San Sebastian. He speaks no English but you get past that. They cleaned our room, made our bed and gave us clean towels everyday. We were allowed to leave our bags in the common room on our last day and Miguel even let us borrow a beach towel so we could go for a swim while we waited for our train. I did not have time to thank Miguel for looking after us as I had to rush to my train - Thank you Miguel!

Very nice place! Definitely recommendable! Miguel, the owner, is a lovely guy, very helpful, he gives you the feeling to be very welcome. The hostel has a nice atmosphere, free internet access is a big plus. If you speak at least a little bit of Spanish you should stay there.

We spent our first night in San Sebastian in an awful hostel, so arriving at Pension Amalur the next day was like a dream! It is a really nice place to stay, it was an easy walk to the beach, shops, resturants, old town, and it is very clean! the owner miguel doesn't speak really speak english, but he is really helpful (lots of miming!) and you always understand each other. he can be a bit, um, over friendly but in a harmless way, he's exactly the same with everyone so dont feel too awkward!

Miguel went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable, even providing cava and beautiful roses in celebration of my birthday. The location of Pension Amalur was excellent, so close to the beach.

The owner struggles alot with english so communication is a bit hard. Stayed in a mixed 6 bed dorm with shared bathroom. Had a security locker each and the bathroom was always clean. There is no breakfast. Location is central and within walking distance of everything in San Sebastian.

Pension Amalur is a really nice hostel! The owner Miguel is very friendly and is always ready to help you with anything. It was very clean and it's a good place to meet other travellers. The location is also good, just one minute from the beach. The only negative would be maybe that there's no kitchen... just a microwave and fridge.

Although the hostel is in a very good location and the facilities are very good I would definitely never stay here again. The owner is rude, brash and creepy. As a girl travelling on my own I would not be comfortable with his level of overfriendliness.
