My first impression of the place was aweful. Google maps brought me to another hostel, Pension Amaiur, on the other side of town. Made a long day a lot longer. Then no one was there when I arrived. The proprietor did not answer his phone for quite some time as I waited outside. Then when he arrived he was very mad at me because he thought I was supposed to me there 3 hrs earlier. One problem, no one informed me of this. No email from them clarifying or verifying. Ruined my first improssion

Gorgeous little hostel! Great location - you can walk to anywhere from here! Beach is across the road and the restaurants are a 10 minute walk. There isn't a kitchen but who wants to cook in Sansebastián? The owner doesn't speak English but you can get by just fine by using a lot of hand gestures! Super clean!!! Nice hot showers!

lovely place with warm atmosphere, great security, very very clean. beware, there is no kitchen and only tea, no coffee. so if those are important to you... on the plus side, there is a cafe/restaurant below hostel recommended!

Miguel is one of the friendliest and kindest hosts you will meet running a small hostel like this. He was always helpful and cheerful and made my stay in San Sebastian great. The location of Pension Amalur is perfect - 2 minutes from the beach, 10 minutes from the old town. It's the perfect space to base yourself if you're looking for a quiet and relaxing stay in San Sebastian.

Great stay. Nice guests, great location, good value for money. The Internet was a little patchy, which was a bit of a problem for me while trying to book future accommodation. Also, the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner, although that was mostly because of a drunk guest who made a mess (which could happen anywhere), and it was cleaned up in the morning. Overall, great stay!

Pension Amalur definitely doesn't have your typical hostel vibe — it's more like a quiet older person's apartment that happens to have a room full of bunk beds. Located on the third floor of a residential building, it really is a large apartment. The beds were fairly comfortable, lockers (with locks) and fresh towels and sheets were included, which was nice. Miguel was very friendly and very willing to give advice and recommendations (in Spanish)! The shower was amazing — great water pressure :)

Cozy hostel, staff were nice and very helpful. Under a 10 minute wall to the main strip of bars and restaurants. Was pretty perfect location because you avoid the noise at night. Would stay here again

Great location. Not in the heart of the nightlife, but around a 10 minute walk. I prefer this because it's less noisy when you're trying to sleep. It was less than a 5 minute walk conch beach. The gentleman who manages the place was friendly and helpful.

miguel and the staff were very kind and helpful. i had an interior room, and though there was the noise of the apartment building during the day, it was silent at night! even on a friday night in summer. very clean. the room and bathroom were small, but had everything necessary, including glasses, hand towels, shower soap, and small tables. i was offered a beach towel to use at the beach, which was handy. and the location can't be beat!

The owner spoke not one single word of English!! Which was crazy because pretty much everyone in the hostel was English spoken... He kept getting mad at us for not turning off the lights which was so annoying! He came in to our room about 5 separate times raving on in an angry manner pointing at the light which we thought was unacceptable. However the cleaner made the beds everyday which is outstanding service for a hostel. It is right next to the beach which is great. It's also in an apartment

Hello Miss: It's problem of education, efectibamente tube to call the intention on different occasions .1º every time you leave the bathroom we had to go clean the bathroom and turn off the light, remember when I told you that part of your own bedroom, was a disaster, all your clothes all over the floor? I wish you much luck in life. greetings .miguel

More of a home stay than a hostel, this is a short walk from La Concha beach. Rooms are a good size and comfortable, toilets though very small. The owner does not speak English but it's a great way to practice your Spanish!

Sure you wanted permanent party at the hostel and it is logical as I keep doing that kind of activity, so you unhappy. Greetings .miguel

Staff is not there for the whole day so if you are gonna leave your bag and then come back to take it after check out, you need to tell the exact time that you'll come in advance which is quite limitating for your daily trip and ability to change plans. But the rest is quite good, clean and the location is perfect. (The man in the reception doesn't speak english but that's not a problem generally)

No complaints for us. Great staff with a lovely location. Miguel and his family are so friendly and helpful. We met some great people in the dorms and enjoyed exploring together. No party atmosphere. No kitchen or laundry facilities also. Could be potentially a bit cheaper but we were there in a busy period. Enjoy your stay in San Sebastián - we adored the quaint beach town and its surrounds!

Very comfortable and clean accommodation in a great location! Miguel was very accommodating, welcoming and helpful. Was such a fantastic change after spending my first few nights in San Sebastián in a hostel, and last few here. Fesh towels every day, such a luxury! Friendly staff and friendly guests. Overall a very positive experience, would definitely return and highly recommend.

Miguel, the owner, was very friendly and informative. The common room, with its bookcases, pictures etc., has a lot of character. Location was good, only a minute to the beach. The town itself has a great atmosphere. I would stay here in Hostel Amalur again if I came back to San Sebastien.

Miguel is a very welcoming host, the linen and towels are clean, the showers are hot and the location is good. Not a party hostel, but good for chilling.

I just happened to be arriving on the weekend of a fireworks festival, so the hostel price was bumped up very high and I was paying well over what the hostel was worth. The hostel itself is fine, the owner Miguel doesn't speak much English but tries his best and is very nice. Hostel is relatively clean an there are lockers with locks provided. Unfortunately there's no kitchen and the wifi is pretty weak, but all in all it was ok
