Very nice hostel! the staff know a little bit english but they (especialy Miguel) are very helpful!!! near the beach and 4 min walk from the old city. the wifi is not good in the 6 people dorm room and the showers are little small. San sebastian is very nice place to visit and Pension Amalur is excellent place to stay in!!!

Good hostel. Nice big lockers, free wi-fi, 5 minutes walk from anywhere in town and very clean. New sheets and towel every day! The staff are really friendly. They know hardly any English, but somehow they always get the message across politely. Miguel is the man!

Miguel was difficult and unfriendly from the beginning. He yelled and me and my friend while he dawdled with his computer to check us in. Then, he kicked me out (after he yelled at me in Spanish and cornered me) early the next morning with my bag to wander around San Sebastian in the rain, although I wasn't supposed to leave the city until 6 pm. Wouldn't recommend this place unless you are really in a pinch. He doesn't even serve breakfast.

This was an awesome hostel for a lone woman traveler to spend 4 nights. Miguel was an amazing host--when my friend (the awesome girl I met in the common room) didn't have a backpack for our hike, Miguel offered to lend her one. When I said I was going down to the beach, he insisted a take a big beach towel, no charge. He is good people; he reminds me of my uncles. The location on the beach near the train station couldn't have been better, and the place was immaculate and safe. I'll return! :)

Staying at Amalur was like staying in a respectful home, it´s a great place to relax and meet fellow travellers, located only minutes from the beach- walking distance to everywhere else. I stayed in a dorm, which had enough room for everyone and cleaned every day. The private rooms also looked like a good size. Internet was great. Miguel welcomes you with open arms, provides local information and has the enthusiam to answer any questions, despite your level of spanish! I was charmed! Gracias!!

Great hostel. The nicest I've stayed in.

Miguel was a champion, let us know where everything in the city was - supermarket, good restaurants, places to see etc. Rooms cleaned everyday, fresh towels everyday, if you make your own breakfast/coffee etc all dishes cleaned up for you. Larger than expected bathroom (stayed in double private room). Common area was good to meet people if you wanted too - other travelers there at the time commented that was the best hostel they had ever stayed in and tend to agree, would not hesitate to return.

Our experience was fantastic, we were 4 people and we didi not expect it to be so good. I can not say that I have stayed to many hostels or pansions until now, but from my personal experience it was a very good place for us and the atmosphere was excellent , too. The point is that if I was ever to return to san sebastian I would just stay to the same place, I would not waste time to seek for another solution. I hope that in high seasons the price will be quite friendly for students to visit it.

It was a good place for 2 nights. The guy who owns it was friendly and there were lockers in the room to lock our stuff. It was nice to have free tea and a fridge to store some food in. My only complaint was the air freshener smell, but overall it was a good deal.

San Sebastian ain"t cheap and this pension provides an intermediate option. Location next to the beach (though not directly at the beach) and a friendly manager make it a good option for a reasonably priced overnight stay.

Its such a quaint place that doesn't really feel like a hostel, but more like a friend's house. Breakfast isn't included which is a bummer. Also there are only two bathrooms- but it was honestly never an issue because the hostel isn't big enough for it to be a problem! I would highly recommend this place!!!!!!
