Pension Kawtar is in the heart of Fez Medina, few minutes walk to the Blue Gate. Perfectly located hostel, with excellent facilities and very kind, friendly staff. I recommend you to stay there. It's value for money and a very comfortable stay.

DO NOT STAY HERE. We stayed only for one night and it was strongly insisted to us that we do a medina tour. We were told 250 dirhams for 3 hours. Instead we were taken on a sham of a tour for one and a half hours around the medina, stopping in two shops while the guide had a cigarette and left to find our way back. Hostel said we would get our money back but upon calling the guide to the hostel we were shouted at and the guide denied everything. We never got any compensation-con artists!

Facilities are a little bit old, and in most times there is no hot water in the shower. Staff are nice and helpful.

Staff was very helpful, friendly, and accommodating. As we only speak English we were very pleased they are fluent in English as well as many other languages.

For us it was easy to find since we used the Navigation System of our car but otherwise it is a little difficult to spot. Part of the staff was really nice. The rooms are ok, the roofterrace is amazing. En suite means that there is a plastic cabin with a shower and a toilet in one corner of the room. The other facilities were ok but there was no hot water. If you dont book through hostelworld the breakfast is another 20DH.
