The staff is friendly, yes, but they also manage to make more noise at night than all the guests together, so we were forced to stay awake untill 2am after a early flight. There was also a distinct foul smell coming from the showers, spreading in the rest of the place. The beds are outdated, clean sheets, but not comfortable at all. Also no working electricity plug in the room and there is only 1 bright white light so you wake up the whole room. It really needs renovation to be up date a bit.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The woman who operates the hostel is incredibly sweet. She will help you in any way she can to make you feel at home! It's a fun place with fun people. It also has the best location ever, literally right by the steps of the Vatican. Great central location!

When I arrived there was no sign indicating the hostel was on the 2nd floor. I got there after phoning them, and when I pointed out the lack of a sign they replied people manage to get to the place anyway... They charged me 2 extra euros never mentioned on the site and didn't accept credit card. I payd in cash but had to wait 30 minutes for a 50 euros change. Plus there was no locker free in the room, assistant wanted me to leave bags in the reception. + the bedroom was cold and smelly.

There was mould all over the bathroom, not to mention the big hole next to the only window (in the bathroom) that constantly kept cold air and insects coming in. The whole place was incredibly dirty, hair of the staff was all over the place, especially after "cleaning" it! The location of the hostel is really just perfect, but all in all the place should be shut down for a couple of weeks, to have time to renew everything.

The location is very convenient. The metro station is very close to the hostel, so it's very easy to get wherever one wants. However, the hostel was not clean at all. Not only the guests were unclean but the hostel in general was filthy, too. Yet if you are looking just for a bed to sleep, this place is good because of the price and location.

The hostel is just a place to sleep. Internet does not reach the rooms and if you want to charge your mobile you have to do it in the common room (because in my bedroom at least power source didn't work). The staff is normal, they are there to help. Bathrooms are ok and showers too. They don't have kitchen (so you don't have a spoon, a plate, fire, etc) what you do have is a refrigerator and a table to sit at. The goos things are the location and the price.

It has been my second trip to Pensione Ottaviano in Rome. My first trip was in 2007. The location only meters away from the Vatican is simply phenominal. The staff and the other guests are always very friendly and cooperative. The facilities are always clean and I personally always fell very safe. All in all a really great and recommendable place to stay in Rome.

The location is great, the hostel is clean and warm, the receptionist was so serious and not that helpful as in the other hostels I've been, I think receptionists should be friendly. There is no kitchen, nevertheless the atmosphere is nice, and thevatican is very close.

This hostel was fine for our last night, its location was not central but close to St. Peter's and the Vatican. The staff were very friendly and there were actually enough showers for the guests. Wifi signal was perfect.

We chose this hostel b/c of its great location near the Vatican and all of the piazzas where celebrations were happening around New year's eve. It's a perfect base if you want to see Rome on foot. Wonderful friendly, helpful staff.

There is no kitchen and the hostel is not particularly clean. There is a really loud buzzer doorbell that sounds at all hours of the day and night. The female staff member was nice and helpful but the male staff member was incredibly rude and unhelpful. The hostel is very close to the vatican which is nice, and the moulded wooden ceiling is charming.

When I qrrived, my passport had been stolen. The man running the hotel saidd, therefore, that I had to leave at once. He had zero sympathy for the fact that my entire holiday would have to change - AND it was christmas and so the embassy would be closed. He truly was a pig. The woman who works there, however, is actually very friendly. This hostel lacks personality and culture.
