Penthouse on long Reviews

The atmosphere was too much about Americans partying, but some people are looking for that, just not me.

Great shower set up, never had to wait to bathe. The hostel was pretty quite but it is also the off-season. Cool roof-top patio but it was too cold for anyone to truly enjoy it.

I had a blast at this hostel. Rooftop bar is a great place to have, start or end your evening. It's close to the mini-bus taxi rank and train station and has a grocery store a 5 minute walk away. The kicker is it's on the happening street for a late night party/jol in Cape Town - the infamous Long Street. And if you need to score some african goodies of any variety you're very close to formal and informal african handicraft markets. Liquor stores, cafes and restaurants abound...Great!

Great hostel, absolutely recommendable! The rooftop bar is really great.

Please bleach your stained towels and bedding - the room was tidy but filthy. Also, with the airconditioning only working on the whole of the 6th floor the private double room ended up being noisy with the aircon on so high it dried out my sinuses. Reception staff were friendly though.

El Penthouse tiene una ubicación excelente, en plena Long Street. Es muy grande, tiene espacios diferentes para hacer lo que quieras, están cuidados todos los detalles. Muy limpio y seguro. El ambiente es el que quieras tener, hay espacios tranquilos y lugares donde hay fiesta. El staff no es muy simpático, pero te solucionan los problemas que puedas tener. Totalmente recomendable!

Best hostel on long street.

Fantastic staff, friendly and helpful! Great and clean facilities. Updated activities every day and negotiated car trips around town that the staff helps you get in touch with. I would truly recommend this great hostel to anyone going to Cape Town!

Very friendly staff and amazing rooftop bar. If you want to be in the heart of the city and wind down with good people overlooking the city sipping a beer, look no further.

The Penthouse was a great location to stay at. The rooms and showers were clean and there was a security guard at the front desk. I stayed there during the weekend and there was a party on the rooftop party both Friday and Saturday but they cut the music at 1:00 am so that it would disturb guest who wanted to get an early sleep. It's right on Long Street and walking distance from a ton of restaurants, stores, and bars. I would stay here again.

Perfect place to stay on Longstreet. Best hostel bathrooms. Big dorm is super air conditioned abd roof top bar

good. the limited internet was a bit annoying. the rooms were very noisy at night despite there being no partying or music playing

The owners are great! Thanks Clinton, for everything! great place to hang out on the roof and grab a drink, though don't forget a jacket, the roof is seriously windy! Have the bartender Ameil( spelling?) make you a special drink.

Very nice place to stay. Clean, fun,friendly staff.

On a positive note, a great party was held on the roof of the hostel The main downsides were that the hostel common areas were dirty, the downstairs lobby and lift are ancient, the carpets need replacing, and one evening we were able to enter our rooms without passing anyone at reception
