Staff very friendly and helpful. Probably bit quieter than some other hostels on long. Nice atmosphere.

One of the best hostels I have stayed in. Location is great just on Long Street where all the bars are restaurants are. The bar upstairs on the roof is just a great place to hang around and to make friends. Rooms are big and clean and very quite area. Breakfast is not included but there are facilities to deposit food and to buy it for less than 2$. WI-FI connection was great. Friendly staff that can help you in booking the tours around Cape Town.

I would stay at Penthouse on Long if I was in Cape Town again. The staff was extremely helpful and patient with us and all of our questions. They even gave us directions and phone numbers as well as looking up information for us, scheduling wine tours (any tour really) and so on. The hostel is amazing with a rooftop lounge, nice bathrooms and showers, air conditioning, laundry service, they make up your rooms every day, self catering kitchen, the works. I really enjoyed my stay. Highly recommend

This hostel is in a great, safe location on the 6th floor of a building on Long Street and was very easy to get to all the major attractions in Cape Town. The staff were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the rooftop bar and the TV lounge was a nice place to sit in peace. The only slight downside was that you could hear the noise from the bar through the walls in your room at a low level. Just remember to take ear plugs if you are looking for an early night. Great hostel though : )

Everyone on staff went out of the way to make things easy and fun. Kudos to Miriam for great breakfast and suppers. Roof-top bar is great.

Friendly laid back staff!!

The Penthouse was the best place to stay for my time in Cape Town. You are in the center of the night life of long street and if you are lonely traveler you can safely just go to the roof top bar where there's always a party going on and it makes it very easy to meet people. All the staff were lovely and I always felt very safe. I stayed in the 22 bed dorm and it was great! The beds were really comfortable too! Definitely recommend this hostel to all travelers!

The stuff were nice &friendly,they need to improve a little on cleanliness,like changjng bed linen often

The actual location was good as it was centre to everything, however the men who hang around at the main doors every day made it uncomfortable and also some random men trying to get in to the lift with us were pretty scary to! Also the hostel itself was not so clean, we stayed in the orange room, the towels were ripped with stains and the shower door was falling off! The room was dirty!... also some of the staff were nice and helpful and one was just rude!! I wouldn't be staying there again

Penthouse on Long was fantastic! All of the staff were friendly and helpful. I have to give a special shout out, though, to Mary, for being able to answer all of my extensive questions, for recommending the awesome Wine Flies tour that I went on, and for just being all around awesome. I just went there for one night, and I was with 7 more guys at my room and I can tell that the hostel rules were stricted followed. Even if it was a mess inside, people there where not screaming ou doing wrong stuff there. The bar at the rooftop is amazing, you got an ATM inside the backpackers, a cool kitchen and the best of it is that you have a lot of bathrooms. Ty penthouse on long. Guilherme from Brazil.
