The hostel is a little bit far away from the city and to get to the hostel from the bus station of the airport bus you have to walk quite a while. A bus station to the city centre is not that far away and a 5 minute walk from the hostels door. But it´s the ideal place to start a walk to the lookout over auckland.

It looks like you may have got off at the wrong bus stop because the airport bus stop is the same as the bus stop to the city which you say takes 5 minutes.

a very nice hostel with friendly staff, very clean, located in a lovely suburb and close to most things (supermarket, bus stop to city centre, mt eden...). to be highly recommended!

The place is OK. Quite old and far away from the city. There are no security lockers in the room. It's good value for money though.

This hostel is a colonial homestead which has been refitted with modern amenities situated on the outskirts of the city in a peaceful homely environment away from hustle and bustle of the central city.

I found the system of putting keys and instructions underneath the mat as I would be arriving after reception hours (I arrived at 8.15 which was still within opening hours) odd, and not very secure. I understand that there were reception hours and outside of that people need time off but for the keys to have been put there even though I said I would be arriving before 8.30 annoying as when I asked at reception she just pointed to under the mat when a little customer service wouldve been nice!

Good location with 24 hour supermarket and bus routes 5 mins walk. 5 mins bus to Auckland CBD but still plenty of bars, restaurants, shops etc close by. Vinny at reception is awesome and will help with anything, always buzzing around making sure everything is good. Free local phone calls and large TV room. Would stay again for definite. The cleanest hostel I've ever stayed at, always someone cleaning.

Cleanliness of the bathrooms was very variable. Some were clean. Some were very dirty. Good kitchen but could get very busy. Nice, quiet suburb and easy walk to the buses which take you straight to the city centre.

After 10 months of travelling (in Australia), this was genuinely the best hostel we had stayed in. It was kept immaculately clean (bathrooms were cleaned at least twice a day) and it felt like staying in a house more than a hostel. Hosted (Tomizone) internet deals were pretty good although connection was at times a little unreliable. Friendly staff, great lounge area and only a short walk to cafes etc and bus stops into the city

A big converted house, Pentlands is awesome if you a quieter stay. 20+ minutes walk into town up the hill and down Queen Street. Public swimming pool round the corner, $5 adult. Countdown five minutes walk away. Big TV room.

A small, clean, friendly hostel in a lovely tree lined, quiet location. The private room was fine except I could have done with a mirror - I had to go to the bathroom down the hall. It's much quieter than other hostels I've stayed at, which can be a good thing but don't go expecting a party. Loved the garden and deck and proximity to Mount Eden. Worth staying out of town for.

Is a bit out of town, with a 5 min walk to the nearest bus stop (takes about 10 mins to get into the cbd) otherwise walking takes around 40 mins. Because of this its a fairly quiet stay, but the fact its small with friendly people and staff makes it easy to meet people. Rooms are a good size and not over crowded and also kept clean (including kitchen and bathrooms). Internet costs $2 for 30 mins which is a bit steep (in town you can get 1 hour for $1) but otherwise it was a good backpackers.

It was a decent place to stay but is overpriced for what you are offered. There is nowhere to unpack your things. It is extremely basic.

Excellent value for money, close to city and good bus routes. bathrooms exceptionally clean and well maintained. my room had clean mattress and linen and all you could expect for the price. Kitchen was excellent and plenty of decent common areas. Outside area and BBQ great in summer. Plenty of parking big plus. Why wouldn't you stay here. I few oldies but mostly young people
