The staff and atmosphere in the hostel is brilliant! Though improvement can be made in the kitchen.

This is my 2nd time staying here....the place is always clean, they've upgraded and re-painted since my first stay one year ago. I think This hostel is truly one of the best in Auckland, with Mt Eden being a truly charming place, and its easy to reach new destinations from there. This is truly the best hostel I've stayed at...it always feels like home.

The walls are pretty thin so take your ear plugs, other than that all good. Glad to have a place with car parking on site and on the street.

Great hostel with excellent facilities. The kitchen and toilets are in impeccable condition. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only "bad" thing is the location since it is a busride, although short, from the centre but if you want to stay in a quiet place this is the place to stay at.

I had 4 nights at PENTLANDS AND WAS EXTREMELY PLEASED WITH MY CHOICE. A LITTLE FAR OUT OF CITY CENTRE FOR MOST (IF NO TRANSPORT) BUT THE BUSES WERE REGULAR AND REASONABLE PRICES. THERE WERE PLENTY OF CHOICES FOR EATING. THE AREA IS VERY SAFE AND QUIET. SUPERMARKET VERY HANDY.

Very clean, chilled out hostel. They crack down on the noise after 10pm so if you're looking for a party, stay in the city centre! Met lots of cool people here and the staff were friendly. Ideal spot if you don't want to stay in the city centre.

The hostel is a little bit far away from the city and to get to the hostel from the bus station of the airport bus you have to walk quite a while. A bus station to the city centre is not that far away and a 5 minute walk from the hostels door. But it´s the ideal place to start a walk to the lookout over auckland.

The place is OK. Quite old and far away from the city. There are no security lockers in the room. It's good value for money though.

I found the system of putting keys and instructions underneath the mat as I would be arriving after reception hours (I arrived at 8.15 which was still within opening hours) odd, and not very secure. I understand that there were reception hours and outside of that people need time off but for the keys to have been put there even though I said I would be arriving before 8.30 annoying as when I asked at reception she just pointed to under the mat when a little customer service wouldve been nice!

This hostel was awesome, very clean, and the staff was exceptionally friendly, especially my man Vinnie. Much thanks for everything and I look forward to staying there again when I come back through Auckland!

Good location with 24 hour supermarket and bus routes 5 mins walk. 5 mins bus to Auckland CBD but still plenty of bars, restaurants, shops etc close by. Vinny at reception is awesome and will help with anything, always buzzing around making sure everything is good. Free local phone calls and large TV room. Would stay again for definite. The cleanest hostel I've ever stayed at, always someone cleaning.

Cleanliness of the bathrooms was very variable. Some were clean. Some were very dirty. Good kitchen but could get very busy. Nice, quiet suburb and easy walk to the buses which take you straight to the city centre.

After 10 months of travelling (in Australia), this was genuinely the best hostel we had stayed in. It was kept immaculately clean (bathrooms were cleaned at least twice a day) and it felt like staying in a house more than a hostel. Hosted (Tomizone) internet deals were pretty good although connection was at times a little unreliable. Friendly staff, great lounge area and only a short walk to cafes etc and bus stops into the city

A big converted house, Pentlands is awesome if you a quieter stay. 20+ minutes walk into town up the hill and down Queen Street. Public swimming pool round the corner, $5 adult. Countdown five minutes walk away. Big TV room.
