Good equipped kitchen, easy to meet people there if you're travelling alone and it's not too far away from the beach etc. The countdown is quite far away and I couldn't find another supermarket but also didn't have the time to really look for it in the area. if there'd be lockers in the bedrooms would be great, also more plugs in the room would be helpful. I would recommend the place.

Certainly one of the most noisiest hostels I have ever stayed in. Okay if you are under the age of 21!!!

Mark, you picked the busiest weekend of the summer, easter. We like all hostels were 100% full, the street was really busy and most noise came from the street, i made sure that the lodge was clear of noise from 10.30pm, and moved folk on, however i do not have influence on the bars or other hostels. We have on site security and off site security locking up at 11.30pm and opening at 6am, plus 3 walk throughs during the night. You were in a room with 3 foreign students who were 20, but i was through the hostel after 10.30 at least 3 to 4 times on each of those nights, any noise was not from here. Ithink your comments are 100% unfair.

I chose to stay here over the other hostels because they offered free kayak hire and had private bathroom. Room was clean and basic Bed was comfortable. Friendly Aussie guy on reception. Cheap and cheerful base to explore the area. Check out Tango Jet Ski for an awesome trip, Duke of Marlborough Hotel in Russel for a pint at least (1kg lamb dinner for 2 was delish) Paihia bakery rocks too! Enjoy!!

Hey was a lovely stay at Peppertree Lodge. Been there last weekend with a friend and we enjoyed our trip due to clean and comfortable rooms. Has been the first hostel with good beds for long time:D I really liked the staff, very friendly owner who can get good deals when it comes to trips and activities!

I thought this was a lovely friendly hostel, and it has everything you need here. I was a little concerned about security though as you can reach in and unlock the door if the window is open! We didn't have any problems mind...

The windows are for ventalation, and if we ensured they could not open then those rooms sure would get very hot, during the day we close them when folk are not about. We do have outside sercurity through the lodge at 11.30pm, and another 3 times during the night before the kitchen etc is re opened at around 6am, we also have on site sercurity that also do at least 3 walk arounds over the period of a night.

good hostel only 2 things I didn't like: the kitchen and the common room closed during the night and only one plug in the room

Owner Comment (Hide)
The reason the kitchen and lounge close at 11.30 pm is to protect guests food etc, as when the bars close folk have in the past taken guests food and other things in the kitchen
