The Peppertree lodge was very good, clean, and with an excellent outdoor area. We were looking at the high cost of tours around the bay, and the staff reccomended a trail from Paihia to Russel, which turned out to be rewarding and excellent option for those on a buget. When I did decide to do a bus tour to Cape Reinga/90 mile beach, the staff were able to book it for the next day, cheaper than the pamphlet price. Only complaint is the shower pressure was a little lacking.

Centrally located on the main backpackers street. 2 mins to the beach! The bus drops you right outside which is handy. Kitchen is great, lots of space to cook. Only downside is that if you wanted to stay and have drinks at the hostel you needed to pack up by 11.30 and move to a bar (all close at 1am). I understand if this is for the other guests but if you're not making too much noise it's a shame you are moved on. Other than that great hostel!

It was a bit strict when it comes to staying outside at night. 1030 is a bit early to have to leave the outside common area. Other than that, great hostel. Awesome location and very friendly staff

My stay at The Peppertree Lodge was fantastic, meet by a very nice owner on arrival, room was very clean, tidy + spacious, bonus comfy bed, had others in my room who had been there for few day's + were loving it. Kitchen very tidy, large, clean, even had a cleaner at night to tidy up kitchen + recreational area which you don't see a lot. Great location, staff were awesome + funny, Free kayaks + bikes (bonus) + 400 dvd's. Overall will be back have no problems with telling others to stay GREAT!!!
