the hostel was very clean and in a good area.....it didnt have the best atmosphere but it also wasnt heaps busy when i was there.... the breakfast is the best i have had in all my years of staying in hostels around the world... they have free wifi in the lounge area but this is on the ground floor....it would have been nice to also get it in the rooms..

Very nice location in one of the side streets to the main street Karl Johans gate. In general hostels are expensive in Norway, I think you get a lot of value. The breakfast is very good with everything you want - from coffee, milk, different breads, eggs corn flakes, ham, cheese +++. Breakfast is easily worth 130 NOK. Staff is friendly, beads are comfortable, secure and everything is clean. No safe or keys on the room - safe in the reception.

This is a hotel serving as a hostel, so don't expect fun parties and nice common spaces. Scandinavian quality, the room was functional but not beautiful. We were upgraded for free from a dorm to a twin room by a super nice reception lady, and another sweet reception guy gave us a crown coin as a free souvenir :)

Nt as good as others make out, breakfast was good and plenty of food available. The barracks style is definatley true, I had to sleep above a person who was so smelly, they kindlymoved me. Overall a good hostel but over priced, as is most of norway.

It's my 2nd time to stay in this hostel. Everything is good. Room is clean and tidy. Location is just excellent as it is near metro station and walking distance to the central station too. I will stay here again if I visit Oslo in future.

It's exacty like some reviews I have read here.... it look likes a hotel with bunkbeds, very clean rooms, AMAZING breafast, the hostel looks a bit expensive, but it is a VERY good value for Oslo; I've been there in three different moments because I decided to use the city as a main hub to my trips to see the Fjords in Norway and also to take a flight to Iceland - considering that, I needed to leave half of my luggage in the hostel and they didnt charge for that. Thanks to all Perminalen staff.

keep in mind, this was a hotel, not a hostel (even though they place 2 sets of bunk beds in a large hotel room, giving it a hostel-like feel). it was about 8 blocks from the train station, so not too bad. 2 blocks away from Karl Johan street. everything was clean. staff was very nice. free breakfast! wi-fi only in the lounge, which many people utilized and made for a way to strike up a conversation. a bit expensive, but then again, so is everything in Oslo

It's needed more safety in the Share rooms, eg: lockers

This is a decent place to stay for Oslo standards considering it is very hard to find inexpensive places especially for backpackers. Oslo doesn't have a lot of central hostels and reasonable prices. It is very basic and they don't have an age restriction so i ended up staying in a room with a much older lady which was fine but different from your average hostel situation! It was very basic but clean and felt safe but there were no lockers or safes.

Meh. Ok place I guess but not worth what I paid and the neighborhood was very sketchy, however it was very central and had a kitchen.

The staff is very friendly and nice, always smiling and helpful. The breakfast is amazing, and the internet connection was fast. Excellent location, 5-10 minutes walking distance from the train station and to the city center.

Excellent facilities and location. Free (excellent) breakfast which is always a bonus in a very expensive city! Really pleased with the place.

Fantastic breakfast, thank you for providing so many options! Like the 4-person size rooms, it allows for privacy and a more secure feeling than rooms that fit more people.
