Perugia Farmhouse Backpackers was just what I was looking for, a break from the city and time to enjoy the outdoors. It's a farm outside of the city but on the bus route and you can actually pet the farm animals, it's really fun! The staff are wonderful and friendly and willing to help with anything you need. They have lockers with locks and clean shower facilities.

This is a wonderful hostel. Such a great break from the big city. Great location to explore the region, or just enjoy being on your own on a farm. Super fun and the staff amazing. Make sure to do the beer tasting. Good for young travelers as well as a romantic getaway with your loved one. Only thing to say is that the chickens could have made more of an effort to supply us with eggs for breakfast but I guess you can't have it all! Thanks to Riccardo and Aafka for an amazing time. Will be back

Such a lovely place! The animals (so many!) are cute, the house itself is very big and comfy with a well equipped kitchen. The location is perfect: you are in the middle of the country side but not far at all from the downtown area (short bus ride) and there are 2 grocery store nearby. Free bikes, WIFI and places to hike. The owners are very nice and the staff is helpful. I can imagine how cool this place might be in the summer (outdoor swimming pool!). I will definitely come back asap.

The farm is 20 minutes from Perguia by bus, and we had a little trouble getting here at nighttime (try to do it in daylight!) but it is definitely worth it, an amazing place! We used it as a base for exploring Umbria, and Manuel was very helpful in recommending places for us to go, and he arranged horse riding and Italian lessons for us which was fantastic and well priced. We had the best time. We will come back for summer one day, thanks Manuel! Jennifer & Mat

hostel is NOT 1km from bars and nightclubs...it is 1 km from one country bar. The profile on their website is very misleading in that way. also, in winter when nobody is there, the place is really dead. Lastly, there appeared to be a couple farm-hands that wandered into the place to watch football...so, so much for the tranquility of the place. one other thing, if you have a rolling sitcase, be prepared for 400-500m of dirt road.

Owner Comment (Show)
Dear Greg, Thanks for your input; we would like to take the time to respond to your comments, many of which are inaccurate. Firstly, our website is very clear with respect to distances. You must not have understood our references properly before booking. It is clearly stated that we are located in the countryside at 5 km from the center of Perugia, which is a 20 minute bus-ride away. There are both a disco and 2 pubs at 25 minutes on foot from the farmhouse, which I indicated to you and was willing to give you more info about. If your contention concerns a lack of clients to go clubbing with (apart from the fact that people have less money to travel, it is also January, after all, and even if you go to larger cities, you will often find that the hostels are far from being full), then that is something beyond our control. The "wandering farm-hands", as you call them, were actually paying clients that stayed for 2 nights; you must not have understood that either, as you don't speak Italian, and they didn't speak English . I am a bit confused about your review; you critique the farmhouse for being "dead," and then complain about other guests making too much noise while watching television. If your intention was to party, which it obviously was, as you arrived with a half-empty bottle of wine in your hand at 2pm, then I think that maybe you would have done better to travel to a large city like Rome or Florence and stay in a youth hostel. Though at 40 years old, that may not have been possible for you either. Happy travels all the same.
