Highly recommendable hostel! 1. It has its own huge and comfortable roof terrace (open 24 h/day, breathtaking view at night!), 2. Its staff is the friendliest and most helpful that I have met throughout Jordan. 3. It's located next to little supermarkets, near the central bus station. Petra is within walking distance, too. 4. However, the nights there can be noisy, since the town is full of mosques. (The latter is a general problem of Wadi Musa, not a special problem of Petra Gate, though.)

Nasser will do the best for you everytime. This is my second time in this hostel and he has remodelated it. Now there are new facilities like: WIFI, bigger sittingroom, terrace, etc. and rooms are very clean and the dinner is a great value for your money: it is a big buffet with rice, meat, falafel, diferent salads, bread, soup and so many things that will keep you stronger after a hard day in Petra. He can also arrange excursions (Wadi Rum, Dead Sea, Madaba). Highly recommended.Manuel-Spain

The staff at the hostel was especially friendly and also very helpful. They go out of their way to help you with any problem, create a nice atmosphere and give a lot of good tips. We would definitely stay here again.

Petra Gate was great! The staff was helpful, and the rooftop terrace is awesome! Tea and Coffee whenever you want and a nice breakfast was a plus. Would recommend! Wifi only really works in lobby.

It is not always easy to find a hostel that sticks to the premise of good value for money. This is one of those. The location is perfect, just 1€ taxi from Petrás door and in the central st of restaurants. The establishment simple but comfortable . The rooms are clean and with all basic the facilities one may need. Don\'t expect to have your own drinks-bar in the room, but do expect a wonderful roof terrace to chill out in the evenings and a totally warming & helpful Staff to guide you around!

The staff are really friendly and helpful. The owner ran us down to the entance to Petra and picked us up later at no cost. Some rooms are fairly basic, while others are very good for the price. The food is plentiful and cheap (6 Dinar for dinner buffet). The greatest pleasure is being able to sit on the roof terrace at sunset, hearing the calls to prayer from the town's mosgues, and drinking Arabic coffee. It really makes a stay in the hostel worthwhile.

The hotel is basic, but comfortable and spotlessly clean and the breakfast's good. The owner will bend over backwards to help you and make you feel settled, he also organised our trip to Wadi Rum after Petra.

I have stayed in this hostel a couple of times now and it would be nice to see them get their act together concerning the hot water in the mornings. Both times luke warm water.

The facilities at this hostel are not great, mould in the shower, wires coming out of plug sockets, cold rooms. However, the staff are very nice and helpful and I felt safe. One of the men who works there got up very early at 5am to make us breakfast and gave us packed lunches. Nice staff, could do with some renovations though. 15 min walk to entrance to Petra.

We were happy with our stay. Staff were very accommodating. Clean; room, sheets, towel, . What more do you need for one night?? I do recommend asking for an extra blanket at this time of yr as they turn the heat off at night.

Good food. Location is not as close to Petra as you would expect, but it is a decent 20 minute walk down the hill.

You can walk to the site from here in about 25 minutes down hill (longer uphill, it's steep!). Bathroom in room was small. Heating was barely working. There is a restaurant with all you can eat food for 6 JOD. Not a bad place for a few nights while saying in Petra.

A little bit cold in the night. Staff there help us a lot. Arranging Petra night tour, and the taxi back to Amman.

Great Hostel with nice and helpful staff. Good food for the money! Takes about 25min to walk down to the Petra Ticket Office, the walk up can be a little hard after a full day walking the Roman ruins of Petra!! But walk if you can because the taxi servíce is expensive!!!

Petra Gate was an ok place to stay. The people there are very nice and helpful for setting up trips to nearby points of interests like Wadi Rum. The rooms are a nice size and the beds came with good blankets and all but the heat (I was there in December) was essentially non-existent. The food costs extra and is ok but not great. The location is easy to find and easy to get back to and I always felt safe there.
