We saw improvements this time at Petra Hostel. There wasn't a lot of improvements, but it made a difference. The hostel is in a excellent location. Staff was friendlier this time. One thing we learnt in the middle east in the old areas is, do not expect western standards. The hostel kitchen needs to be upgraded and fixed up. Thank you for a comfortable stay.

Petra is the best choise to be IN Old Jerusalem. It have an \"1001 nihgts\" atmosphere. It isn\'t a 5 stars hotel, but ¿what do you expect for an antique building in Jaffa Gate, just in David Street, a few minutes walking to the Western Wall? Also you are just in front of the David Tower. Jerusalem is a place unique on the world and there is no money waht is too much for to be there. Breakfast very good in a giant room with Ali Baba\'s carpet. Coffee and tea free 24 hours. I\'ll be there again, surely

We had a terrible stay. The lights in both bathrooms on our floor were blown, and after telling the staff several times of this, we were moved to another, fuller, dorm that at least had its own bathroom (complete with functioning light). The daytime staff seam completely bored and disinterested in providing any service whatsoever (although it must be said the night manager was much more useful). The kitchen was so poorly equipped it was unusable. At least the views from the roof were good.

Pros: location, great breakfast, view from the roof Cons: beds are old and small, not much of an atmosphere

Could use a bit of cleaning. Needs more blankets at night. But a pleasant place to stay right near Jaffa Gate.

The hostel has no character, extremely cold in winter/hot in summer. This hostel lacks proper blankets and beds. No common room with people to meet. The only good element is that it is right in the old city.

the bed sheets have not been changed since a certain number of nights so it was really stinking. it was very cold and no additional cover was provided, there was no heating system. the bathroom had no light bulb, no heating system and was very dirty. the room could not be closed with a key, so basically stealing could have been very easy. the staff was not helpful at all. I highly recommend backpackers to find another hostel rather than staying at Petra Hostel.
