General atmosphere is no good. There are many hostels in London that are much better for the same price.

I thought the hostel was safe and ideally located. It was one of the best priced hostels in London, but still, a pretty nice place. The safe was just decent. But everything else was enjoyable.

For 7 pounds a night I was pleased with this hostel. Not going to win any beauty contests, but what do you expect for such a low cost? It was unfortunate that they didn't have any available lockers in the room or in reception, but I was able to manage. Good, free wi-fi is always a must for me and they didn't disappoint in that regard!

Make sure you are not paying more than £10 per night for the dorm. There was a couple in my 6-bed dorm that booked 3months in advance and they ended up paying 7 times the price, for the same room. Yes, 700% extra for booking in advance! The staff working there were really helpful. The shower and toilets are really small, except for the one on the top floor which is quite big. Breakfast is 1.50 which is ok for tesco branded instant coffee and cereal. If you are a pub person, this is for you.

I've been in Phoenix hostel last week, it was a great experience, the location is perfect (zone 1) and the atmosphere too. If you need some help ask for Jonhatan the guy who work in the front desk ,he is really friendly and helpful, he helped me a lot about food, places, nightlife, everything.. for sure i will come back to this hostel...

The staff are really rude and incredibly uptight, the only cooking appliance is a microwave, the hostel is far away from the city centre and public transport is really expensive and time consuming in London. The bunk beds are three beds high with little room between them and the bathrooms are quite dirty. The best thing about the hostel is the bar area which is really good to meet other people but you have to leave or go back to your room at 3am.

Great value for the money. The place was pretty old and in need of a reno (especially the gross bathrooms) and the 8 mixed dorm was small, but overall it was a good choice. Hot showers, friendly staff, good breakfast, and 5 min walk from the Tube.
