The hostel is definetely not what it is advertised on your site. We supposedly booked a room with private toilette, but what was turned out to us, was a two bedroom old flat which was relatively far from the Brasov main central district. My wife said she would no way tolarate the remaining two additional nights, so we left the hostel after spending initial night. It may be OK for adventure loving backpackers but definitely not for a middle aged couple like us.

The Phoenix House was more than a hostel, it really was a home away from home. The owner of the hostel did a great job preparing everything, making us feel welcome, and showing us around the city. He even went above and beyond the city by providing our group with a day trip at a very modest price. When you're traveling abroad it is the memories and sights that stay with you. I can happily say The Phoenix House provided us with both... at a price that can't be beaten!

It is an appartment, but with the same or more facilities than a hostel. If you look for the "hotel style" dont go there, but if you want a place to rest, warm, with common areas, internet and a kitchen to cook your own food with all the tools, this is a good place. To get the center you have to take a bus (5 stops) or walk 20 minutes. We are backpackers and are very happy with it: very warm, very clean and with everything.
