Very welcoming hostel. As a person or backpacker in London there is no better accommodation then Pickwick Hall.

This place almost feels like a house that has been converted into a hostel. The staff is serviceable, the decor outdated, the breakfast is simple, and the (non wifi) internet is very slow. Interestingly, the majority of travelers seem to be groups of long-term guests. Because of this, there doesn't seem to be a social atmosphere as the majority of people already know each other from back home. But the hostel is clean, quiet, and located in a convenient area nearby several bus and subway lines.

My whole family LOVED staying here. Patrick was very welcoming, and the location is perfect. With wifi, laundry, breakfast, and a kitchen on site I can\'t imagine a better hostel. Highly recommended for families or backpackers.

Pickwick Hall was a good choice. It is not the cheapest hostel, but it is in a quite place and 3 mins from Oxford Street! Room was rather small with older equipment, but bed was clean and comfi, you had there everything you need. There is a common kitchen with everything for cooking and a dining area. There is also a common living room with TV and internet.

We stayed in Pickwick Hall for 3 nights. The room was what we could expect for the money. Old beds with old matrasses and clean sheets. Furthermore some old and worn furniture. There was a fridge and a microwave in the room but the fridge made so much noise, we had to switch it off. Everywhere in the hostel you can find some black boxes to fight the mice I guess... We did not see any, but the thought of it was not very nice. The bathrooms were not that clean and also was the paintwork very poor.

Amazing location as we were going on a contiki trip in the morning. Also very close to many great restaurants and 2 underground stations which was very convenient for shopping and site seeing. Rooms were spacious and the beds were very comfy!

The shower on my floor was out of service - I think they should have advised me that this was going to be the case.

Fantastic location in central London, a few minutes walk from Holborn tube. Staff were friendly and helpful. We liked the fact we could cook our own food and it was very handy to have a supermarket close by (just outside the tube station). It was quite cold outside when we stayed but the hostel was nice and warm and there was always hot water in the shower/sinks. Free wi-fi throughout the hostel and there is a computer terminal for guests to use if you don't have a laptop with you.

I have to say, the best thing about this hostel was the wonderful staff. They were all extremely helpful and friendly. I had just moved to London and stayed here while I was searching for a job and a flat. When I came in every day from my job hunts, there was always someone there in the kitchen ready to chat, give great advice and help in whatever way they could. The hostel had a great homely feel and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. It’s in a great location, within walking distance of most of the major at

we stayed there for 4 nights over new years eve in a double bed room. The room was well equipped with a fridge and a microwave! There was a bathroom on every floor and the toilets and the showers were always clean. Furthermore you ALWAYS had hot water!! whether you took a shower in the morning or at night. They also provided you some towels. The breakfast was continental and started at 8o clock in the morning - with an open end. you had always access to the breakfast (good thing for people who like to sle

We stayed in a double bed private room with ensuite. The price for one night was £70, which considering the quality and cleanliness in the room was pretty expensive! However you are paying for the excellent location - and this in London comes at a price... The bathroom and toilet was clean and modern, the bed was comfortable, however the room was in need of a bit of a revamp and it clearly hadn't been cleaned properly (there were cobwebs on the wall). It was decent enough for 1 night.

Love this place. I stayed two nights in a 4 bed female room, but I was the only one there so I got the whole room to myself. The toilets and showers are quite clean. Russell Square is a safe and quiet area, so if that's what you are looking for you will love it here. The British Museum is right down the street and the closest Tube stop is a 5-10 minute walk away. Staff are amazing and the breakfast is quite good. However, if you are looking to party, this is not the place for you.

Location is excellent. Good value for money. The private double room was clean with towels provided, it is very basic but in line for what they charge. They had no secure storage rooms for luggage though, we checked out on the Sunday morning but were going to be spending the day in town, they offered to look after the bag for us albeit we had to leave our bag by the dining room.

The price is fair, considering the location. However, the building is old and shows lack of maintenance: cracks on the wall, broken lock in the bathroom door, holes in the ceiling, etc. Our room was very humid and we had to leave the window opened (in winter!) to avoid the smell. Breakfast is ok. Recommended only if you just want bed and breakfast, literally
