Read a review from a few months ago saying there was a bad smell and the hostel reply was it will be fixed soon so i thought nothing of it. But as soon as you get to the dorm you notice even with the window open. When you close the window for mosquitos the smell is almost unbearable. Everything else was as expected from a budget hostel. Low season so i assume that, and the smell was why i had the dorm to myself so no atmosphere.
Other than hotels, Pineapple was my most enjoyable stay during my three week trip to Thailand. Air conditioning worked perfectly and you weren't forced to turn it off when you left the room. Staff were super nice and helpful (the man has a little trouble with English, but the lady easily translated for him). Only about a 4 minute walk from the beach on a public, safe street. Breakfast was cheap and good compared to the rest of the places that we stayed. Would definitely recommened Pineapple to p
This hostel doesn't look like much from the outside but its great on the inside. Spacious and the double room was very clean. For a private room with air con we thought it was great value and close to the beach. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.
I liked this hostel & for Karon Beach it is perfect. It's a 3 min walk to the beach & there are tons of restaurants, shops & bars nearby. The lady who owns/works there is super nice & speaks English well! She's very helpful & was very welcoming for our 1st day in Thailand. There's a safe in the room & the cleaning lady did an exceptionally good job! There isn't a great area to meet people in the hostel (just go to the beach!); A/C unit didn't really work even after cleaning it (got a bit hot).
Stayed for 3 nights in double room in June 2014. Breakfast and room were great. Staff very helpful (run by English gentleman). Also helped to book boat and tour at a more competitive price than other agents (and were not pushy about selling them).
Really wonderful for the price. Stayed in a private room for 3 and were very happy. The staff was very helpful and arranged transportation and activities for us like a speedboat tour, elephant ride, trip to big buddha, and shopping in Phuket town. Very happy with the hostel overall! :) And so thankful for Sia, the lady who was working the desk most of the time for giving us helpful information about the area and safety!

The rooms were basic but clean, there didn't seem to be much of a social area, particularly later on when the cafe closed but the guy running the place was so friendly and helpful which made up for the average was of the rest of the place. The location was a little on the outskirts of Karon, but any easy walk to the main area and the beach. Best English breakfast I've ever had, including back in the uk!
Great location, 5 minutes from Karon Beach but a bit far to Patong (500-600 baht in taxi) hostel is very clean and staff are very helpful. Good wifi and when it broke, they got it fixed straight away. Rooms are large, lots of space. Food and drink served in hostel although I never ate there. Lots of bars and restaurants around (sanooks and Stevens cafe are particularly worth a visit) overall a really great hostel, just a shame it's not nearer patong for me.
