Very \"Hawaiian\" charm. The staff were some of the most friendly people on the island, great family away from home feeling. There are kayaks and snorkling equipment all right there to rent. Forgot an underwater camera, and they had that also. Great free coffee in the morning. Enjoyed immensely.

This place has a cozy, low-key feel which makes it easy to meet other travelers. You\'ll feel like you\'re in a house. The staff is very friendly and work hard to keep it clean. Only downside is its isolated location from other businesses or restaurants, but you can hike to the Captain Cook scuba diving area which makes that trade-off worth it. Would definitely recommend.

Overall a good hostel with friendly staff. Seems that a car is necessary to get anywhere. We rented the standard double bed private which was very nice, just a shame that the there is no basin in the room. Staff is friendly. Does seem that a car is necessary to go around.

I definitely enjoyed my stay here. Yes, it's a bit out of the way, but there is the bus and people with cars happy to give you a ride. It's small, kinda cozy. Definitely Big Island atmosphere. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Only one tip: smile, you're in Hawaii! That goes for everyone ;)

Booked online and when we arrived after a 8 hour flight they had given our room to someone else. terrible.

They are rebuilding a house next door to the hostel which should open up the space; it is a bit jammed together at this point with the owners living in a small part and another part being used for the rental of kayaks and snorkle gear. If you like to snorkle and kayak and swim, this is a good place to stay and take advantage of the bays and beaches. Captain Cook Monument area ROCKED for snorkeling. You can hike there from the hostel - 5 mi round trip. Awesome!

I can't give rate pineapple park since we didnt end up staying the night, but I felt it was worth sharing our positive experience there. We reserved a night here through hostelworld for our first night in Kona. Unfortuantely there was an issue with the reservation and they were already booked full. The owner found us a room at hotel down the street and comped the room for us. It all worked out and we ended up staying at the other hotel (hotel manago) for 2 more nights bc we liked it so much!

Annie and her staff are absolutely amazing!!! Annie really goes out of her way to make you feel safe, secure and welcome. She also provides good quality gear for snorkeling and kayaking at very reasonable rates and is more than helpful in pointing out points of interest for these activities. Pineapple Park Kona is a a little out of the way in terms of city life. One needs a car to get around or a good healthy thumb. Her location near the Volcano Park is also very nice clean and comfy too.

Check-in/check-out was a breeze. Good facilities and friendly staff. No lockers for belongings. Pillow was thin and hard, but otherwise accommodations were comfortable.

A little off the beaten path, but it was a fantastic value. My one recommendation is that, if you come to the big island, make sure that you rent a car! The bus only runs to the airport once a day and it doesn't run on Sundays. That is not the fault of the hostel, though, and you would need a car regardless of where you stay. Annie is really helpful and I truly enjoyed my trip!

Wonderful experience. Very hospitable host and place. Loved the location: close to great snorkeling and fun restaurants. Away from the crowded city.

The hostel owner and staff are friendly and helpful. The guests were very friendly as well. In fact, I made friends with other guests there and hung out with them for most of the trip. The location is perfect for a short drive to great beaches, snorkelling and sight seeing. The facilities are overall clean and good. I was only given a single sheet when checking in, I would have been happier with 2 sheets and a clean pillow cover. The hostel rents kayak and other gear that makes logistics easy.

An amazing hostel, might not be near town but if you have a vehicle or don't mind hitching then it's the perfect location, great scenery, great restaurants(check out the pizza place down the street), snorkeling near by. Staff was friendly, met a bunch of single travelers there that I started tagging along with and had a really good time. Annie is sooo nice and is super helpful if your polite. She works extremely hard for the hostel (easily over 12 hour days) so be considerate. :)
