I highly recommend this hostel if you explore the west side of Big Island. I liked the atmoshere. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable, the place was clean. Due to the location at highway 11 you cannot expect to walk around exploring the area. But nevertheless I was a bit anxious about the security. We didn't get a key for our room when we stayed in a mixed dorm. They just hung some cloth in the door frame. No one had stolen from me. But we had slow season.

The fact that the dive shop was across the street was nice. The staff was really friendly and it was pretty clean. I didn't have a car so that sucked, but that's just big island. I had to leave to Hilo on Sunday and there is no bus on Sunday and Annie the manager was going to Hilo and she gave me a ride. I didn't feel comfortable sleeping in a mixed dorm, sometimes I don't mind, but I was alone in the room with a creepy guy.Overall nice experience. The manta ray night dive was AMAZING!! A must.

For one or two nights it is ok. For more the street is too close and also that you cant have only female or male rooms was not so comfortable. But the bed smelld extrenly good of fresh washing and the coffee in the morning was great.

It was a fine place to stay, clean enough and whatever, but the area it was in did not make it easy to get around the island and see stuff if you don't have a car and are not willing to hitchhike. Additionally, is about a $60 cab ride from the Kona airport.

We would visit this hostel any time again. It's a great place to stay. We stood in a private room which was very clean. Free coffee was ready at 6:30am and lots of room to sit and meet with other travelers. :)

Owner is very strick, Pennywise, not so friendly nor openminded, and hard for her to give a smile. Dont buy bottle of water there, just cross the street and ull pay 1/4 of the price at the convenience store.

The room was ok but totally overpriced,. We even had to pay 7$ for late check-in after 8pm (!), although we had to wait for the host for 45 minutes. The TV was not working, the shower was only a little bit warm and the room was never made during our 3 nights stay. There are much better rooms around for 100$, we only went to the hostel because everthing else was booked out. Obviously this is exactly how the business of this hostel works.

The host wasn't really nice with me because I arrived at the hostel late at night (10pm), the office was closed and I had to call her by phone, maybe waking her up even though when I booked on the hostelword site I put a late night arrival, like 10/11pm. BTW I stopped by a second time during the same trip... I definitively liked that place!!!

The staff were very friendly and nice. That made the experience great. :) The sheets were so clean and smelled very fresh. WONDERFUL. The bad point: it's expensive for just a bed in a (HUGE) dorm...but I guess there are not a lot of options on the Big Island!

This was my second time using a hostel the first been in San Francisco last year AND THAT ONE THERE WAS EXCELLENT. I really liked Anna who ran Pineapple park and the other staff took the effort to remember my name and made me feel at home. My gripe is I reserved a semi private room for the week Anna gave me a private room for three days and then I was in a room with four bunk beds. I found the mataress uncomfortable and wished I had a TV in my room. When I was moved I did not get a key .ALLGOOD

I enjoyed the stay. It's a great location. A pleasant and wonderful place to meet with others. Good variety of spaces to stay in from dorm to private rooms.

good for one night, if u are on a budget and if you already have a car to go there, otherwise you will spend most of your time waiting for a bus ... I wouldn't recomend it for more than one night. everything was clean and the staff very helpful, unfortunately the location is not the best.

This place is good for the right person. If you have a rental car and are driving around the Island it's great for a night or 2, but other than that there's not much around the area and it's right on a busy highway. The people are nice but the place is very basic, more outside than inside. Also they lock the showers and kitchen at night so don't arrive jet lagged and look for a snack late.

A good place to stay if you want to get to know other travelers. I stayed only one night and felt comfortable immediately. Of course, you have to like the hostel/dorm atmosphere (no privacy).
