Staff were v friendly, ESP mr deng. Unfortunately the first room we were in was disgusting. Bathroom horrible, peeling mouldy Walls and a horrendous smell from the drain. I actually couldn't even brave a shower in there. Book the basic twin at your peril!! We moved to a more expensive double room (150 a night) and this was much better though the bathroom was still horrible and hot water was unreliable. We have travelled for a year so r not too fussy but this place feels like it's been neglected.

Our double room was in the block behind the main hostel. It was reasonably sized and was nice and clean however the bed was very hard. Other guests said their beds were really comfy so they may have not gotten around to changing our topper. Mrs Deng (owner) is a legend and managed to get us some train tickets when they had sold out everywhere. Food and wifi were also good. Would stay again.

Good palce to stay in Pingyao, food ans drinks in the restaurant are very expensive.

There were no glasses, soap etc that are normally provided in an ensuite room. The room for 1st night is unhealthy, was not cleaned, 2 used wet towels stll hanging and the bed sheet /blanket are impregnated with urine smell and dampness. The 2nd night, we were given another but the washroom is in fact a small toilet called a washroom unfit for a guest. The lady owner was rude and did not check before accusing my wife not to pay 8 CNY for breakfast. WIFI comes and goes. Afterwards no more.

Mr. Deng from the Harmony Guesthouse does not like Hostelworld customers. Their primary target is to make money and not treating customers as they should do. We do not recommend staying there.
