Perfect loaction, not too noisy, nice staff, good price. Very simple, but all I needed. Main thing missing was electrical outlet close to my bed to charge mobile phone.

Don't go! The owner is going to sell the place and has no interest in running a good business anymore! Don't go there!

this hostel is a place where down to earth people come and just relax... cleanliness is not the pritority, but for everybody to get to know each other and get into the comfort zone... the location is perfect! its near everything, especially the top two beaches here! the staffs here are champ! they will help you with anything. if you are a backpacker who just likes to have fun and meet people, then this is the hostel for you!

It can get really crowded if full, and the communal areas aren't that big. Cleanliness isn't as bad as other reviews made out - it's more like a squat. It is absolutely the best option is Rio in terms of value for money. We stayed at other places and they were three times as much but only slightly better.

location of the hostel was good between Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, the staff were friendly and helpfull. However at even a cheap price you expect some basic hygiene included. The bathrooms were terrible, only 1 shower and 1 wash basin worked in the male toilets, the floor was constantly covered in urine and broken glass. The main areas were dirty, full of insects, the beds were uncomfortable and covered in squeaky plastic coverings. Internet available, however staff played games all day.

Great location and the staff were fun and outgoing. However, it was one of the dirtiest, unkept hostels I've ever seen. I was bitten by bedbugs, the floors and grounds were incredibly filthy.

Cheapest accomodations in Rio. Best location ever. Very safe neighborhood. However, just don´t expect luxurious or plush or clean. The staff is super-cool, super-chill and interested that the guests have a good time in Rio. Although I liked the place and appreciate the pirate philosophy, I just have to be honest and give them the lowest possible rating on cleanliness.

Two captains Freddie and Bryan make warm weather in this bay. Cheap and realy good, best location in Rio. Lots of fun options every day, don't miss.

UP's: The Hostel is cheap and near Ipanema. The stuff will help you if you have any doubts. DOWN's: It isn't very clean and hygienic. Conclusion: Like many say on the previous posts, it isn't for princesses but if you want something cheap the price corresponds to the quality.

This is, for sure, the FILTHIEST PLACE I´ve ever stayed in my entire life. Filthy, dirty, stinky, full of flying bugs, unsafe (rotten staircase, everyone can get inside the 'hostel' and the bedroom because there´s absolutely no control, dogs inside), a real PUBLIC HEALTH issue - how come a place like this can still be in business? Had booked four nights and couldn´t even sleep or take a shower there for the first one!

DO NOT stay here if you are precious or a princess. If not, then definitely stay here and you will have the absolute time of your life! By far the best location you could ask for, amazing atmosphere, helpful staff, fast wifi. The beds weren't too comfortable, the place was noisy but HEY if your doing Rio properly you shouldn't really be sleeping anyway. All the money you can save on accommodation by staying here will be well spent elsewhere!

THE GOOD: Location & Price. THE BAD: Everything else... Bathroom's are disgusting and bedbugs in the beds (no joke). I had to remind the owner to give me a pillow a few times (btw I never got it, he was to busy wathcin TV). BOTTOM LINE: ONLY for the broke and the non sanitary backpackers.

El hostel es bastante desprolijo y precario, pero la gente que trabaja es super amable y bien predispuesta.

Well if you´re reading this review you´ve seen the price, so you should have some idea of what to expect. It is a dive. But a fun dive. It´s also the cheapest hostel by far in one of the best locations. So if you can put up with a few bed bugs, sharing a dorm with 22 other people and using horrendous toilets, then I´d recommend it.
