Loved our stay here! Rooms are cozy, kitchenkitchen/TV larglarge and clean, bathrooms spacious and well maintaned, and there's a hot tub! What's not to love?!
Plateau lodge has the price of a hostel but it doesn't feel like a hostel. The common area (kitchen/living room) is very clean and comfortable to use. The free hot tub was amazing and very handy after the long walk at the Tongoriro crossing. Would definitely stay there again!
Stayed here to do the crossing, unfortunately we had to extend because of poor weather. Rooms were good but feels a bit cramped. Kitchen was good. Bathrooms were clean and look great. Sinks in each room. Hot tub is a must! Crossing can be booked with the front desk. Location Doesn't really have anything else besides the crossing although staff will be helpful. Bunk beds should a ladder!
Loved my stay here! The room was clean, shower was roomy, lounge was warm and comfortable. And the staff was so sweet and inviting. They really helped my out by letting me use their phone and so on when the weather was not going my way and I had to change plans. Highly recommend this place!!

Beds are far to soft. It felt like sleeping in a hammock… Family run place with very friendly staff. Enough showers, no towels.
Very clean hostel. The bed was a little uncomfortable, but the bathroom and shower facilities were phenomenal. There was also a hot tub available for private booking. The atmosphere was dreadfully dull. Neither the village, nor the hostel had much going on. Do the crossing and move on, but don't linger.
Probably the cleanest backpackers that I stayed in while in NZ! Good location for walking Tongariro, handy for National Park train station. The hot tub was most welcome after walking the Northern Circuit. The only thing that the hostel lacks is a proper drying room, but the staff were very helpful in providing some space to hang wet clothes, and start drying boots.
