The staff is incredible!! Very knowledgeable, helpful, and super friendly. Tons of animals around and you literally roll out of bed onto a mostly empty beach. The downsides are that the dorm rooms absolutely need more fans (I had a lot of trouble sleeping) and the bathrooms reek.
Hostel is very close to a beach that is not very popularly used (becuase it is hard to get to) so you have a fantastic beach almost sparsely used. The romos dont have AC. its gets hot and there are mosquitoes that are hungry. If you really love a beach then this is a great hostel else there are other hostels that are better value for money. If they added a room with AC this hostel would be great!!!!
The positives are the location and the beach bar. The negatives are that the kitchen is extremely dirty and limited. Tons of bugs and dirty dishes. If you want to buy food at the restaurant it is mediocre, but expensive. They don't clean the bathrooms every day. This hostel could be so much better if they invested in the small things. Overall though, this is the best hostel in the Santa Marta area in regards to beach access.
playa del ritmo is an excellent beach hostel. definitely the best place to be on the beach in santa marta / rodadero to have some peace and quiet

Amazing hostel right on the beach! Staff is extremely nice and the bar is fun to to go at night. The "private" rooms are huge and the fan was enough for us instead of the AC. The staff also gets a game of either volleyball or futbol every day right before the sun sets on the water. We met great people and definitely plan on coming back!
Great hostel, located right on the beach (which isn't busy). Good place to base yourself out of as you visit the surrounding areas, relaxing between treks. Staff aren't particularly knowledgeable, but they are super friendly.
Nice and helpful staff, chillout location by a quiet beach, and a beach bar! The bathrooms were not very clean and smelly. the separations were kind of blurry glass/plastic, you would see the silhouette of the person peeing next to you, disturbing :p at least they were not gender mixed - the dorms were big and with lockers. the bad things were that the beds were very shacky, the mattresses sunk down and because of the metallic roof, it was very hot! despite the two fans
Place had a great location right next to the beach and a good bar with food. Pretty quiet and chilled, good for relaxing.
It's basically a beach paradise where you only need to walk 20 or so metres between your bed, the bar/restaurant and the beach - what's not to love?! We went for a couple of chilled nights but ended up staying 3 more and partying with the staff who were all awesome. That said, the bar is far enough from the hostel so that you can avoid it if it's not your thing. If it hadn't been the start of my trip I probably would have stayed here for weeks - can't recommend it enough!
