The staff were helpful but this hostel was a bit of a ripoff. We paid $30 for a room with no window and for facilities and extras that were well below average. I wouldn't recommend staying here for an extended period of time (more than a night) i was rather disappointed. The breakfast idea was cool but with the amount of food supplied relative to the price we paid, not worth if at all.

No fault of the hostel but the effects of the earthquake are very apparent here-alot of empty derelict buildings, grafitti, gangs. The hostel was a bit run down, our twin room consisted of an old, very squeaky! bunkbed, stained pillows and handprints/dirt on the walls. The room was hot and we could hear our neighbors clearly through the walls. We had booked for two nights but elected not to stay, unfortunately with no refund for the 2nd night. Just a little too dirty & didn't feel safe there.

We stayed in alot of hostels as we travelled around the South Island last Christmas and it was the only hostel that didn't supply towels with the double room. We also thought it was bad to have to rent a mug for $5 from reception. The kitchen overall was pretty badly equipped. Free breakfast was from 9-10am, far too late for those getting up early to go travelling. 8am would be more realistic. More showers would be nice, only 2 in the ladies and 2 in the men's - was pretty hectic in the morning.

It was a great time. The beach is very close and the hostel pretty nice. The staff is totally friendly, u have free breakfast and internet. To rent a surf board and other things is possible for low money.

This is a good place with all the facilitis and services you can expect from a hostel. Staff is nice and helpful. The beach about 200 meters away is very long, and terrific for walks, surfing, swimming etc. If ever back in the Christchurch area I will for sure book in here.

was far away from the city, but lovely staff, and free breakfast. i felt 27 per night was expensive especially because the shuttle from the airport is an extra 12 dollars because it is so far away.
