The kitchen was full of dirty dishes and there was hardly any cutlery to use. During the night the partying that was done in the kitxchen was well heard in room 1, which was not appreciated because I had to get up pretty early the next morning. I couldn't complain with the staff because there was nobody during the night.

Not very impressed - especially after staying in other beautiful, value-for-money hostels all over NZ, including Christchurch. Kitchen was not cleaned and very small - far too small for the number of guests at the hostel. In general, an impersonal and forgettable experience staying there. I left too early to benefit from the free breakfast, but perhaps that would have improved my experience there :(

Staff soooo friendly & very helpful. Its by the beach which is great & only 15-20 mins on a bus 2 the city which doesnt matter because theres not much to see in there at the moment due to the earthquake. Free cooked brekkies were great. I did find it a bit chilly but i had just arrived from Oz so that was prob me just make sure u have warm jammies! U get free internet too so cant really complain about anything.

We stayed in room 19, this should not be able to be rented out. Its near teh kitchen, very very noisy. We had to ask people to be quiet several times, and they were rude and didnt go to sleep until around 3am... we were up at 5 am. Thisi is unacceptable in my view and to be honest unless I get a refund, I woudl never reccomend this place!!

Staff was very helpful, and it wasn't too out of the way to get into the city center.

The free cooked breakfast because of the scafilding round the building was a great idea and long may it last!

Staff at reception is very nice and helpful. I'm not happy just because the first night the guys play music loud in the room but they stop play at 10pm, the second night my room was full of people watching movie until 11:30pm. That's super awful..... In the morning outside is noisy because construction!! Not really enjoy to stay there!!

If you don\'t mind taking the bus out to the burbs, it\'s great. The beach is absolutely gorgeous! Would go back if I came back to Christchurch. Take two city buses, not the shuttle from the airport. Save yourself $28!! Take one bus to the city centre and then 5 or 40 to the backpackers. It stops right across the street. The people there are great! Thanks to everybody!
