I enjoyed the atmosphere in this hostel, it was very homey and comfortable. The kitchen, lounge area, bathrooms and rooms were clean. The only downside I found was that there were many long stay guest in the hostel.

I had a great stay here, would definitely recommend. It was clean, central (you can easily walk in to the city, and there are lots of shops/cafes/bars on Ponsonby Rd) and the building looks like the house from Charmed. The staff were good as well, especially the older lady on reception, who was so nice and helpful!

the hostel is good. However, internet is not free, and if you pay for internet have only a few minutes availables. The location is not bad but it is far away of the main interesting points of the city.

Thanks for making time to leave your review, We enjoyed having your group here and showing you how to get around the city :) We would just like to mention a couple of things. We did explain to you how the internet works, And as you where a group we even supplied you with complimentry vouchers on your first visit. Unfortunatly it is on a data system, (which we are constantly trying to improve) It will however last 1hr on our smallest voucher $2 if just checking standard stuff online. With the main tourist points around the city, We have 3 bus stops within a 2 minute walk from us. We are a 15 minute stroll to the skytower and the Cbd is not far past the skytower. Thanks once again and hopefully these have made your points more clear.

Really nice small hostel in Ponsonby where you can find nice cafes and restaurants and you can get within circa 10 minutes by Linkedin Bus to the city center. The hostel is more like a house which gives a nice atmosphere. The luggage place in the dorms and the toilets are only a bit small.

Despite other entries here, I experienced the staff as very unfriendly and unorganized. I spend one night in a dorm in a very shaky bed. The other night in a single room of circa 3 square metres (no kidding) with a bed and a chair in it and nothing else for 45 NZ$ - which is ridiculously expensive, even for Auckland. The area (Ponsonby) is nice, but I certainly cannot recommend a stay in this hostel.

Thanks for taking some time to leave us a review. However I would like to take the chance to reply. Firstly I am very disappointed to learn you did not find your stay with us enjoyable. I know that upon checkout by one of our staff members, he asked if you enjoyed your stay, this is a question we ask all guests on departure to ensure that any problems can be rectified: You did not use this opportunity to outline any problems with us, instead leaving very unjustified comments here. We feel that the first room you stayed in is a lovely room, of which we get very good feedback. Yes the single room you stayed in is quite small, however for the 3 other hostels located in Ponsonby, our single is in fact the cheapest with other hostels charging between $49-$52. Ours is a cheaper rate to reflect the fact it is a small room, though it is still a lovely, clean, bright room with fresh linen and close to bathrooms. As you can see from the majority of previous reviews, we are rated highly, partly due to having the friendliest and most accommodating staff around so we do not feel it fair to deem us unfriendly or unorganized. We will follow up with a personal email to see if we are able to get to the bottom of these issues. Thanks again and enjoy your time in NZ

We were in room 12? a double in the annexe and were awoken every morning around 07:30 by loud television noise from the room next door which we believe was the staff living area.

Hi There, Thanks for taking the time to leave these comments. I would just like to take the oppurtunity to respond. Myself and partner (the management) were away for the weekend you stayed with us for Easter. One of our senior staff members stayed on site while we were away. Unfortunately she is partially deaf which explains the loud television. It is a shame that you had this experience with us and for that we are very sorry. It would have been appreciated if you would have mentioned to our staff during your stay as it isn't a usual discrepancy and perhaps we could have remedied this for you. Enjoy your time in NZ, we hope you will come to stay again :-)

We had a nice stay there. The location is good and the city centre of Auckland can be reached easily by feet. But also near the hostel there are a lot of shops, restaurants, food court and bars. The hostel was clean and the rooms ok. The team was very helpful.

Overall a great hostel. Clean and a decent location. About 20 to 25 minutes from downtown. Downside is there is no free Wifi or Computers. Charging for internet is so in the past. I understand it add's to the bottom line, however it degrades the experience. However, there is plenty of free Wifi in Auckland, so just walk around. Other than that, it is a really nice hostel. The atmosphere was pretty good as well, though it wasn't as easy going as some of the other hostels I have stayed at in NZ.

Thanks for making the time to leave us a review :) However i would just like to make a comment about the WIFi, Wi Fi is very expensive in Nz , We are constantly trying to find cheaper providers and at present we are looking at moving from a pay as you use data system to a pay as you use time system. Thanks once again and hopefully we will see you again in the future.

Really enjoy the stay, great atmosphere,it's more like a big house with huge backyard, leaving room with tv and pc, big kitchen facilities, quiet at night after 10h30.The staff is really cool and helpfull, organising some parties for special occasions. Only thing missing is the free broadband :). Ponsonby area is very nice, quiet compare to the CBD but also loads of great bar around, 20 minutes walking distance from the center

The hostel is full of character and is a lovely place to spend time in. It's clean, the staff are friendly and the rooms are really nice compared to other hostels. I'd defiantly recommend it to other people traveling alone or people who want a laid back trip to Auckland. Compared to other places I've stayed I'd say it's value for money.

Really nice place, but like I read in the comments, most of the people staying there are staying for a long time. A little far from the city center, but easy to get there by bus. Too bad the kitchen is locked down around 10:30.

Thank you for taking the time to leave these comments. I just would like to comment on some of the points you have made. I would like to point out that a very small number of our total guests are long term, I am not sure where you have read these comments. The reason we lock the kitchen over night is to avoid noise disruption to other guests as we are a small hostel. This is for the overall comfort of all guests.
