We loved the staff, they are the kindest staff i've ever had. Ismael and Murat where awesome. The lady that serves the delicious breakfast is really nice as well. The location is great for sightseeing and the interiors are really cool and clean. Realy good for the price. I was pleasantly surprised and would return.

This was the nicest hostel I ever stayed at. The location is perfect being right in the middle between the old city and the new cool town. Istanbul Modern is around the corner as is the tram station and ferries. Walking distance to nightlife in Taksim, great places to eat and a stone's throw only to the water!! The staff was wonderful, beds super comfy and all was clean and new. Breakfast was delicate and decent, the supermarket across the street helps ease life and everybody is super nice!

It was an amazing experience at portus! What more could a backpacker expect when there is a 24/7 reception available? Very impressed with their hygene, attitude. The only bad thing was that there were no variation in the breakkfast! which could be improved!

Portus is located in an ideal place! But I personally think that it is an expensive hostel!

Unfortunately we had to move to another room because of any overlapping room reservations. That was not very comfortable.

It was a very clean hotel. You can reach to Taksim Beyoglu and also historical parts (Topkapi palace, Blue Mosque, etc) of Istanbul easily. They were so kind and very helpful. Exactly it is ideal for couples.

Portus Istanbul is in a great location - good eating options locally, you can cross the bridge to see all the sights, and the night life area just a tram/cheap taxi away. It's also very clean, and the housekeeper who serves breakfast is so lovely! It really is a great option for couples like the other reviewers have said, so the only thing is to note if you're a backpacker is that the atmosphere isn't too social (at least when I was there). Otherwise would def recommend this place!

Very good hostel, ultra helpful staff, they clean the room every day and is the best hostel for those who want a value for money stay in istanbul... it's near tram station, walkable distance no more than five minutes. I recommend it 100%. At first glance i was a little scared from the street outside the hostel because during night was shadowed and nobody walking outside from it.. but nothing never happened. That's gorgeous Istanbul.. Thanks for the perfect breakfast...!!

Very good hostel! Everything seems recently renovated and it's really nicely decorated. The room and the facilities were very clean. Staff was very nice and willing to help. The location between the Taksim area and Sultanahmet is quite convenient. Big plus in the winter: there was a very well working radiator in the room.

We stayed five days and we enjoyed our time with Portus. The location is great, our room was clean and very comfortable. This "Hostel" really made us having a amazing timein Istanbul.

I just have one note: in the showers, the place where to put the shampoo and bathing stuff is too high for any regular man! you should lower it for more practicality! I was in room C

We are a couple from Croatia and we had a great time in Istanbul and Portus hotel. The room was amazing, very nice and clean, the location amazing.... We already recommended it to all our friends, and if we come back again to Istanbul, we'll pick Portus again!:)

As a couple, we really anjoyed our stay at Portus Istanbul. We did many trips like these before, in nearly every continent, but this Hostel was one of the best. I totally recommend the PORTUS HOSTEL and if we go to Istanbul again...Portus will be our first choice.

I stayed at this very nice Hostel for a few days last month and loved it. The owner is super nice and gave great advice. This place has the best security I have ever seen at a hostel. Everything was super clean and you could tell it was ran by someone who really cares about her guests. This place felt more like a hotel than a hostel. The room I stayed in was private, internet access was in the room, and the breakfast was great. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone staying in Istanbul.

One of the best hostels I have ever stayed at! Staff are so friendly and they will go the extra mile to help you. Instead of using a lonely planet, ask them about what to do in Istanbul. Thanks so much for making our time in Istanbul so special!

This was a beautifully restored building and the staff was very friendly. A highlight was the fact that someone would tidy up the rooms, which made coming back at night that much better. Also, the beds were very nice and overall an extremely clean place.
