The hostal was clean and in a great location. The amenities were good (shared kitchen and fridge in rooms etc) however were lacking in equipment (ie knives and other basic cooking utensils). While the rooms themselves were nice the common areas lacked ambience. Overall, this hostal was good value for money.

We were happy with this choice for our two week stay in Oaxaca. The rooms have a fridge, a sink, a safe, and practical furniture, which made it feel like an apartment. We used the kitchen and the common area to make meals and watch tv. The building was quiet and private, right next to a park and a short walk to the Zocolo. The staff spoke limited English but bent over backward to make sure we were happy. Overall a great choice, especially for long term.

Daytime manager, Mari, is charming, always available, willing to listen, does whatever she can to be helpful, and , if you are learning Spanish, will patiently listen to you. My only complaint is that the pillows were flat and hard. If this is what you require, bring along one of those pillows they sell at airports (not plastic), Otherwise, for the price, the location, and the always kind staff, this place would be hard to beat.
