I loved it. After 2 weeks of 'contintental breakfasts' Chelo's kitchen was a real treat to my poor european stomach used to good breakfast. And Chelo is one of the sweetest people I've ever met, helpful and caring. The bikes are awsome, this way you can easily reach the beach, 'city' or cenotes, and to go further you just catch a colectivo right in front of Mapaches. I liked it so much I even forgot the noise from the highway I loved it. After 2 weeks of 'contintental breakfasts' Chelo's kitchen was a real treat to my poor european stomach used to good breakfast. Breakfast was phenomenal as others have said. Excellent location if you are looking to explore the ruins but other than that it is a 5-10 minute cycle into town (Bikes are free) along a busy road, but it feels safe in the day, can seem sketchy at night riding. Great vibe and super friendly, highly recommended.Breakfast was phenomenal as others have said. The woman who runs the hostel is absolutely wonderful but the dude with the dreadlocks is very odd and kinda creepy. He was the only unpleasant part of out stay. Chello and sons totally rock! Great location for the ruins, and free bikes, lock, and light make 2-3 km ride to town no problem. Amazing breakfasts! Really chill place to hang out.Chello and sons totally rock! Great location for the ruins, and free bikes, lock, and light make 2-3 km ride to town no problem. Amazing breakfasts! Los Mapaches is run by a really fantastic family who absolutely made my stay there. The little things were nice here, breakfast and free bikes and snorkles. The only down side for me was a lack of communal atmosphere in the evenings and being woken up by traffic noise every morning. This is small, friendly and family run with lodge style accommodation. Around 40 minutes walk from town, but right next to the entrance to Tulum ruins, with the free bikes you can get there in 5 minutes. The beach here is also amazingly beautiful and quiet. There are many mosquitos, repellent is neccessary, even if you\'ve not had problems in other places. Breakfast is good. Cycling into town is fine in the day, but a little dangerous at night. Luckily there is a place to eat just across the roa...MoreThis is small, friendly and family run with lodge style accommodation. Loved it, loved it, Loved it! Posada Los Mapaches is a fantastic hostel and a real treat. Chello, Joaquin and Daniel are woinderful hosts and super helpful. The breakfast is amazing and the bikes are super useful to get around - especially as the location is not ideal. Close to the beach but far from the town centre requiring you to bike in and out or take a cab for 30-40 pesos. Still the hostel is well worth it for a great chill out spot. You guys are amazing! I had a fantastic time you are the most friendly, helpful family. It may have rained a lot, but you all made sure the rain didnīt stop me from having fun! Until next time... Great base for Tulum, close to ruins, town (street), beach, and great place to g swin with turtles close by. Place is fun to stay but is little quirky with outside shower rooms and toilets - VERY clean tho and I enjoyed it for two nites. Bikes are great way to get around too (get lights for nite use tho main rd busy). Would defo recommend - long as cool with bit of back to natureGreat base for Tulum, close to ruins, town (street), beach, and great place to g swin with turtles close by. Great place with lovely hosts. Its a little out of the way for anything except the ruins, but free bike hire is a nice touch. Oh, and EXCELLENT breakfast. Great place with lovely hosts.
