Really nice place with friendly staff (although speaking Spanish is very helpful here). Great breakfast, clean. Good free bike hire. The place was very quiet and wouldn't be great if travelling alone.

Chelo is the nicest woman in the world. Really welcome and helpful. The breakfast is great too and really sets you up for the day

wrote: Excellent location just across from the ruins. The owner Chello is an exceptional host that goes to great lengths to provide everything she can. The rooms are unique wooden shacks. WiFi, food, beds, bikes were all great. This is not on the beach and near a noisy road but it's easy enough to reach anywhere by bike or taxif. For the price it's amazing. Thanks Chelo!

The hostel was amazing. Beautiful breakfast every morning made especially for our dietary requirements which I know wasn't the easiest! Loved the tree houses and the fresh air coming into the room. Great bikes and advice for things to do around Tulum and Chello was a great host.

As Tulum is quite spread out the hostel is far from the beach & town but close to Mayan Ruins. Bikes are included in the price which is definitely a must in Tulum. Cello, the owner, makes you feel right at home and cooks an amazing 2 course breakfast for you in the morning which is included in the price of the room. Our hut was great, spacious with 2 levels and 2 much needed fans. Very clean. Not a super sociable hostel but great on all other counts. Lots of dogs & cats around for animal lovers.

I really enjoyed my stay here, even though my passport had been stolen in the previous town (at Poc Na hostel on Isla Mujeres) and so I spent most of my time in Tulum dealing with Mexican authorities (which SO WAS NOT FUN). Mama and her family were so good to me. Felt like heaven to be here. Her many-year vision and dedication to build this place inspire me. Love, Kirsty.

When you come here be prepared because Chelo (the owner), even though she's really sweet, has some specific rules. Like no food (including water) inside the hostel, no blankets nor pillows inside the rooms. She doesn't let you in the rooms without putting spray to kill the "insects" you can carry on in your bags. Food and attention were great. The bike she lends you is so useful to visit Tulum, because everything is near but taxis are expensive. Good place to stay even though the toilets....

Such a great vibe - Chelo provides a home style hostel experience that is uniquely mexican. Amazing home cooked breakfasts, bikes included! Chelo provides awesome local advice to make the most of your stay, save money and avoid the crowds.

A wonderfully run hostel, fantastic breakfast and comfy rooms! The lady who runs the hostel will treat you like family. The use of the bikes at the hostel was very convenient to ride to both Tulum beach and the Grand cenote.

We had a great time at Los Mapaches!!! Chelo was helpful and sweet, the rooms were beautiful, and the delicious breakfast, free cool water, and bikes were worth the price of the room alone. Would highly recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Tulum, we would return in a heartbeat!

Chelo, who runs the hostel is a very nice lady with lots of information about what to do. Breakfast is very good and filling. The place is perfectly kept and very clean and a 10 min bike ride to the ruins and to a beautiful beach.

This was by far our favourite place on our month long holiday. Chelo is an angel - so kind and thoughtful. The bikes were a great addition.

Great place, right opposite of the ruins. The host is super friendly, you can't imagine. The breakfast provided is among the best you will get throughout your trip. Good place for couples. But: You must like animals (the place is pretty much only separated from the jungle by a wooden wall and she has a couple of pets). In addition the place is right at the highway. Apart from the hostel, I dont really think Tulum is worth visiting in comparison with many other much nicer places in Yucatan.

Awesome and beautiful hostel with the kindest owner. A little ways from town but right across the street from the ruins. Bikes are included in the nightly rate so it is just a quick bike ride into town. I would definitely stay there again!

Fantastic place, very close to Tulum ruins. The family running it is wonderful, very helpful in finding cool things to do in the area, and you get free bikes to use during your stay. The breakfasts are great, nice freshly made juice, fresh fruit and a worm dish. Best place we stayed in Yucatan peninsula on our trip.

I can't say enough good things about our stay at Posada los Mapaches. Our host Chelo was welcoming, friendly, and patient, even when our flight was delayed by five hours and we missed check out. Breakfast is incredible. You sleep in a tree house with a thatched roof. Rooms are comfortable and facilities meet every need. Clean and friendly place right next to the ruins. You can very easily hop on the bike path into town as well.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for one night on our way to Belize. We will come back on our way back to Cancun. We received a warm welcome from the lovely host and she took our passports. I guess because of bad experiences with guests during spring break. You will get them back when leaving. The tree top rooms are very nice. The outdoor shower toilets are clean. The breakfast was great and you get a lot. Only downside is the highway which is guite noisy during the night! Tulum beach nearby.
