There is a big road in front of the hostel and there is a lot of noise from the trafic. The hostel is close to the beach.

This place is great - Chelo is a fantastic hostess who will make you really welcome. It is located on the main highway just outside of town but very near the ruins - the free bikes (with headtorches and high vis vests provided for night cycling) make it very easy to get to town or the best bit of beach in under 15 minutes and it was a nice way to get around. There is a cycle path into town. And agree with everyone on the great breakfasts - I looked forward to them every day!

I had a truly wonderful stay. Chelo (the host) is an incredibly kind lady, and she will make you feel at home. Location is opposite the ruins so you can easily bike over to beat the crowds. A beautiful part of the beach is a short bike ride away, as is the town - I cycled everywhere. Breakfasts are huge and delicious, keep you full all day! Great experience of being surrounded by jungle. Highway is a bit noisy, but just bring earplugs. Highly recommend this place, I would definitely stay again!

A lovely place to stay! Chelo was so welcoming and lovely, with lots of stuff to do nearby, we couldn't have asked for a better hostess!

We had a wonderful stay there thanks to Chelo and her boys. Breakfast were fantastic and having the bike was great. The only downside would be the noise from the road outside but it was minor. Definitely would stay there again !

We had previously stayed at Posada los Mapaches & without a doubt chose this hostel again. Its great value for money, with private treehouse rooms, THE BEST BREAKFAST you will eat in the whole of mexico that fills you up all day & free bikes. Chello and her sons are so lovely & spent time each day giving us advice on what to see & do. Chello is a beautiful lady who will go to every effort to make your stay comfortable. She even chased down a bus for us when we accidentally left a bag on it.

Great character Hostel. Chelo our hostess was wonderful and loves her guests. Breakfast amazing and was enough for lunch too! Bikes included which was a great bonus which we made good use of. The hostel is next to a main road which did not bother us as we are used to traffic sounds. Lots to do nearby, we cycled to the beautiful Grand Cenote, to the beach and the ruins and caught a "collectivo" bus to Akamal where we swam with turtles. Hostel rents snorkels; much cheaper than on the beach.

Excellent réception, very good breakfeast, beautiful environnment but very very noisy because of the road

We originally booked our stay for 4 nights, but were so incredibly pleased with Posada Los Mapaches that we booked another 4 nights. The owner, Chelo, and her 2 sons were extremely friendly and warm hearted. We felt right at home! The breakfast is amazing and changes every day. Coffee, tea, fresh juice, fresh fruit and main dish. Huge! The facilities are beautiful and constantly cleaned and cared for. Couldn't ask for a better location...literally right across from the ruins. LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!

Chelo and her sons were wonderful! The breakfasts were well presented and delicious. The bicycles were perfect for getting to the ruins, the beach and into town.

The best hostel I have stayed in for many years. Fantastic breakfasts. Chelo and her sons are perfect hosts - very friendly, accommodating and happy to help. I had a really, really great stay. I hope I can return in future! Muchas muchas gracias! ~Oscar.
