Los Mapaches is a lovely hostel in a great location just opposite the Tulum ruins, even better the nearest beach is nearly always deserted if you want a bit of peace and quiet. The breakfast was amazing, by far the best we've had on our trip, and it was good that everyone staying at the hostel ate more or less at the same time and in the same place. The only problem was that there was no method for cooking hot food, which was a bit annoying. Overall, though, a great place to stay.

My stay at Posada los Mapaches was amazing. Absolutely beautiful breakfast every morning and a complimentary bike rental with your stay. I didnt want to leave! The speedbump outside was nothing compared to the love we felt from the wonderful owner. Definitely reccomended!

Great Hostel. Chelo and her family are very accommodating. The free bikes are perfect for getting around the area. You can bike to the ruins/the beach in less than 10 minutes. Chelo also gives directions to bike (4km-7km) to nearby cenotes. Would definitely stay there again.

Wow!! What an amazing place! The staff is so friendly and helpful. They provide bikes to ride to the beach, and ruins, and town of Tulum. They also provide lots of fun in case it rains during your stay. They have lots of friendly animals as well. The cabins are very nice and clean and you are surrounded by nature. It is on the highway, but don\'t let that deter you. Its closer to the beach that way! I highly recommend Los Mapaches!!

I had a very nice stay at Mapaches, the staff is great, very helpful and the rooms nice and clean. The breakfast is delicious and its great to have the bicycles included in the price too. The only pity is that it is situated directly at the main road, although did not hear much of the traffic at night.

It is definitely one of the best hostels I've stayed in. It's a family-run hostel and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Breakfast is included and it's delicious. Location might raise doubts at first sight (just on a side of a highway, quite far from the beach), but then you get a bike (which is also included in the price) and you can easily get around Tulum area.

What can I say? I booked for 2 nights, stayed 10! This hostel is the perfect place to enjoy your stay in beautiful Tulum. Chelo, Joaquin, Daniel and Beatrice are lovely, genuine people who do whatever they can to make you feel at home; Oscar the coati is also a loveable little rascal! The garden setting is really pretty and relaxing. The rooms are spotless and comfy. The breakfasts change every day and are always delicious. Bikes are included in the price. My favourite hostel ever – STAY HERE!

Love the owner Consuelo. Really nice and motherly! Amazing breakfast. And also pillows and mattress! Great location everywhere to go by bike. Only thing that I really don't like is the noise from the highway.

Great place! Cool natural place. The owner is nice and he introduced us to all kinds of attractions nearby upon our arrival. And what I have to recommend especially is their breakfast, its AWESOME. Make sure you enjoy their heartfelt breakfast before you leave to have fun!

We stayed here for about 4 nights in March 2012 and it was one of the best hostels in our entire 8 month trip around Latin America. The family who run the hostel are ridiculously nice and will do anything they can to help you. Don't be put off by the slightly out of the way location - they give you free bikes and it feels good to cycle around town or to the beach anyway. The breakfast is really really good and they cook up something different each day but all with a local flavour. Big thanks!!

It´s such a great place - especially due to the lovely people working there (and all the animals, so nice!! -especially Oscar - awww, we miss him so much!!)!! You immediately feel at home, the breakfast is SO good, and I love that there´s one big table for breakfast - makes it so much easier to be social and get to know other guests there!
