we were taken aback when introduced to a room with leaking pipes and a hole in the tub. After negociations (hard ones nonetheless), we were given the keys to a room with a non-closeable window and huge lightspots all night long. the photos given on hostelworld.com were a complete lie (not updated at all!!!). really a deception

great little hostel in a good location. we arrived very early but the staff still made us some tea and allowed us to check in. The staff were really friendly and would do anything for you. There are 3 computers to use and wifi and breakfast is included. There was building work going on when we went but they apologized and upgraded our room to be away from the noise (although is was still very loud)

Are somewhat noisy due to the repair. Office closed in slightly and lack of air. Dra and towels should be changed regularly and rooms should be cleaned everyday. Staffs are very friendly and helpful .I'll be back. Good success!

Upon arrival, we heard that the room we booked was not available anymore (bathroom had no water, window was broken). Even though we reconfirmed our booking 48 horse beforehand. Staff wanted to help us though. They wanted to take us to another hotel, but it was far outside the city center, which was not what we wanted. The only option then was reimbursement.

The service was terrible. No wifi in rooms as advertised. Food was horrible just greasy egg and stale bread. Staff are too busy trying to sell you tours to deal with any problems. Room smelt damp. There's two sets of stairs one at the front and one at the back of building. They sent us up to the fourth floor with all our bags on the wrong staircase!! We stayed in a much nicer hotel round then corner after that was only slightly dearer. Classic 41 hotel.Well worth it!

We've had a wonderful stay at a twin bedroom which was spacious and comfortable. It has all the facilities TV, fridge, private bathroom and is quite nicely decorated. Only gripe is a small leak in the water pipe of the bathroom toilet. The staff is friendly and helpful.

The hotel is clean, good value and well located but otherwise lacking in character. Every spare moment was invaded with a sales pitch for some type of tour or another...

This place is also a travel company and will try and sell you tours everyday. We did book two tours by the hostel but found we could have got them cheaper elsewhere so look around. Breakfast is very average. We were shown to two rooms, the double was quite big and had a window and the twin room was smaller with no windows. Was not impressed with this hostel and don't think I would stay here again. Location is good though, just a 10 min walk to the lake and nice places to eat nearby.

We arrived there after a 2 week trip through Laos and Vietnam mountains...and it felt like heaven ;o) We had a great room with a big window, a bath tub and a big bed. But there are also some rooms without any window (202, 302, 402...), so we were pretty lucky. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast was good. Centrally located, you can walk to nearly all sights in this area. I would stay there again!

I really enjoyed my stay at Prince 79 Hotel. It's clean and in a a great location in the Old Quarter. The rooms are large and excellent value (I paid around US$12 a night), with new shower fittings (a luxury compared to some of the other places I've stayed in South East Asia!). Breakfast is also included in the room rate. Above all, the staff were very helpful - especially when my wallet was stolen . They took me to the police station and helped me cancel my credit card. Recommended!

The Prince 79 hostel in hanoi is a lovely small place with nice rooms. It is placed in the old quarter and offers a great starting point to all sights. The staff is also really nice and tries to make you feeling comfortable. When I return to hanoi I would like to return to Prince 79 as well. I was there with a friend of mine and we payed 60 SGD for 3 nights for a room with two seperate beds.
