I feel bad leaving a bad review as the owners are so nice... The hostel and shower were freezing! Although it's close to town, it's far from the main bus terminal. I was basically the only person staying there and the owners are often upstairs so it was quite lonely! I understand that I had to leave early in the morning on both days, but breakfast came in the form of stale bread and jam. Ok if you just need somewhere to crash, but definitely not what you'd expect from a backpacker hostel.

Cold freezing water in the middle of winter. Never had so much cold during the night. Old bread for breakfast.

The good - Nice staff and breakfast was ok for Peru standards. The bad - Poor location up hill from town not close to anything. Unreliable reception staff during the day left us waiting in the street several times which would be a big issue if an emergency. No hot water for showers in a very cold part of the world.

This is a family home turned into a hostel. The man is very helpful and kind, he went above and beyond to help me. Because it is a home there is no hostel atmosphere and you have to go get the family from the top floor if you need something which made me feel I was intruding a bit! Kitchen not clean and showers were only warm when the sun was up. The family are nice so I feel mean leaving a low score but it just isn't like a usual hostel, and not in a good way.
