My boyfriend and I are studying abroad this semester and really wanted to get away for the weekend. Tamarindo is a beautiful city, and the staff of Pura Vida hostel know exactly what is going on in the town. It was a great hostel, for an extremely cheap price. I definitely recommend this hostel. Pura Vida!

Great place, I would highly recommend to anyone. Pura Vida is very personable, welcoming, clean and comfortable, the staff is super helpful, and you can't beat $8 a night!

I stayed at Pura Vida four times. One of the best things about the hostel is that as soon as you walk through the gate you forget about the dusty streets of Tamarindo because of the jungle they have planted. The common areas are great, with a giant rancho roof that has rocking chairs, space in the kitchen and a quiet little back table. That have 2 well stocked kitchens, tv, free internet, cofffee and a guard. And the managers speak 9 langauges so they will definitely be able to understand you.

The owners are very helpful and friendly. They provide towels if needed and assist booking any further travel plans required. The location is a little further away from the beach than desired but that sacrifice was made up for by a quiet location and a good sleep. They employ a security guard to keep watch over any vehicles every night. Their dog is friendly and the use of their surf boards to guests is an added bonus. The rooms are clean, beds comfortable and the atmosphere is relaxing. Great!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Pura Vida hostel and would not hesitate to return. Markus, Sarah, and Makai (the chocolate lab pooch) all made for a great stay at a very interestingly style of building. I really liked the hammocks under the really large grass roof. Pura vida!

Love it! Pura Vida Hostel has all the amenities. Kitchen, internet, location and a super staff. Sarah, Markus and Makai (the welcoming Chocolate Lab who gives everyone kisses when they arrive) all make you feel welcome and are also a wealth of knowledge. After a day at the beach, come back to the sweet Hamiks and relax before the next session. Tuanis!
