The Quetzalroo staff is exstremely hospitable. I truely enjoyed my stay with them in Guatemala City. The hostel is a welcomed refuge from the crazy hectic streets outside. The staff was even gracious enough to help me with my travel route through Guatemala, providing me with many helpful tips and suggestions for places to stay and see. I would recomend Quezalroo to anyone who will be spending time in Guatemala City.

This family-run hostel is the best to start and end your trip in Guatemala. I actually cancelled my other bookings in G.City to come stay here again throughout my journey. Everyone is extremely helpful and friendly and Maria makes you practise your spanish, even made me herbal tea in the morning! Room's colourful and comfy and theyre just happy to help you wherever your journey might take you next. HIGHLY recommended. Just don't wake Marcus n Ana up, they're really scary in the morning. Haha :)

The staff and family make the difference for this hostel. I would recommend that anyone stays here, as their only choice, if they are spending anytime in Guatemala City. The owners really cannot do enough for you, and they do all they can to make your stay as safe and enjoyable as possible. The transport/shuttle service is provided in a way that is better than any other Hostel I have stayed at. Collection from the airport was as promised, they waited even when I was late. exceptional Hostel

One of the best Hostels I\'ve stayed in so far! The atmosphere is great in this family owned business. They took great care of us from the moment we stepped out of the airport, showing us the best parts of Guatemala city and introducing us to the country\'s history. Marcos took time to sit down with us and draw a map of Guatemala with recommendations of places to visit (which were all awesome!). The hostel was very clean, quiet and serves a delicious breakfast. I strongly recommend it!

The guys who run this hostel are extra nice and all transfers are included, which is a plus. Some transfers run at Guatamalan time (I.e. hours late) so be careful. The bed was the worst I slept in in Latin America and the kitchen was tiny and messy. Way too expensive for what it is, sorry

Had a great time at Quetzalroo. Met a lot of people and was easy to get to know them because Marcos, Nicha, Bauer and Willie had always plans for us as a group. Algo gave good advices to places to visit and where to stay on other cities. The place was really clean, always had breakfast and fruit. Also went to places I would probably hadn´t visit by my own thanks to the citie tour they offer. Plan to go back soon.

This is really a first class operation especially for Guatemala. I have stayed in a ton of hostels and this one shined above the others with a super location and very accomodating and friendly hosts.

Not hard to see how Quetzalroo was voted "best hostel in Guatemala". My room had a pillow-top mattress. They went way above and beyond with the pickups as well. Highly recommended.

Absolutely fantastic - a home away from home. Manuel and his family go above and beyond what you would expect from a hostel.

Word of warning-this hostel is not advertised on the street. It is 'disguised' as a doctors surgery, to avoid drawing attention to it. We were informed of this whilst checking in after looking for it for a fair while - not very reassuring! We found the staff pretty unprofessional-the girl who checked us in informed us they were overbooked, can we sleep on the sofa? We had a 4.00am shuttle out of there - a firm no! Got our room thankfully, however in general we didn't enjoy the place.

Great place to stay at the beginning or end of a trip. I came to Guat. with 0 plans or advice and Manuel sent me on my way with a list of things to do and perfect hand-written directions of how to get where I needed to. I expected to just crash after my flight in, but it ended up being one of my most fun nights so far.

I had a great experience. My flight arrived 3 hours late....at 10 pm instead of 7 pm and guess what Quetalroo was there to pick me up! They were calling the airline for status. Thank you, thank you.

[Pros] All the staffs there are pretty helpful in terms of providing tour information, addressing urgent needs, channeling and the communication with the Spanish world. In short, they are a group of thoughtful and hospitable persons :) [Cons] The hot water is not properly supplied (low water pressure)

Manuel was just about the best hostel proprietor you're likely to find. Not only did he give us a free tour of the city during the day, he also took us out on the town. We all had Christmas Eve dinner together at the hostel and then went up on the roof to light fireworks and watch the thousands of others light up the Guate skyline similarly. A memorable experience and a truly exceptional hostel. Thanks Manuel.

Manuel's knowledge and enthusiasm is perfect for helping you plan the rest of your travels around Guatemala. Lots of friendly people and opportunities to get taken to local restaurants and bars with the hostel staff. Free pickup from airport is great. Only downside would be that the location is some way away from the historic centre of town (a taxi from the museum cost us Q60)so cheap independant travel is limited. (if you dont speak spanish catching the buses is a challenge).
